Millennials be like: Let's feed into generational hate we learned from the boomers.

[–] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Wasnt the millennial hate the first post?

[–] TanteRegenbogen@feddit.org 2 points 29 minutes ago

Some zoomers are also guilty of generational hate.

[–] exasperation@lemm.ee 2 points 2 hours ago

Yeah when zoomers first showed up to adulthood I remember being surprised when they started ripping on Millennials first (making fun of our love of gifs, single panel memes, Harry Potter, etc.). It was a "what he say fuck me for?" moment and it's been going on ever since.

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

GenZ here like, those things sound great but they also cost money.

[–] SourGumGum@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Dang, am I a Gen Z now?

Other millennials go out??

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 79 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Beware of accounts promoting division between millennials & Gen Z. They’re trying to prevent a powerful political alliance.

[–] Sightline@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

Thank you for calling that out. I've saw them do that on Reddit right after the election.

[–] drascus@sh.itjust.works 13 points 19 hours ago

Not drinking is actually a very good life decision.

[–] NovaOG@lemm.ee 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Key point here: Millennials still make an effort to hang out, outside of the internet. Hoo boy that birth rate is really going to plummet. Lets see how well the capitalist's infinite growth system works when the next 3 generations are smaller then each other. How does retirement work for the proles?

[–] space_iio@sopuli.xyz 11 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

If you think capitalism is bad wait until you see what's coming next: neofeudalism

Extremely wealthy few who control everything. No more payment, you'll simply be a serf. No more owning, you won't own anything, all in your life will be leased.

In that world, you have kids because your told to, or else. Individual freedom? What are you a lord? A feudal master?

[–] GoodLuckToFriends@lemmy.today 4 points 21 hours ago

I doubt anyone will have to be told to have kids. Putting people in misery will leave them grasping at anything to have a moment's respite of pleasure. Right now they can do that with hobbies and 'toys.' In the future? Only the embrace of your fellow miserable hopefully-only-half-kin will be an option, and kids will start popping out.

Y'know what? There are people in every generation causing clichés and also enough people ranting about others clichés. As long as it's in good humour, that's fine.

[–] Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pub 11 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Suddenly realizes no one under 30 goes to the bars he goes to

Holy shit. I never thought about it, really.

I don't go anywhere exclusive or special, really. They're just not fucking there. 😯

I don't want a fucken culture war between the generations like what happened with baby boomers. Gen X forward are all fine by me, live your life, be conscientious of other people and where they're at in life, and for shits sakes lets be open to changing our societies based on different generational challenges. The generational wars were always stoked by cynical conservative bread and circuses propaganda, fuck em, stop paying them attention.

[–] Banana@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And this is why my millennial D&D group invites zoomers to join us, no better way to bridge that gap!

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

In my experience Millenials are super inviting to Zoomers, but not the other way around. But that could just be because they are literally slightly more mature than Gen Z.

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago

I dunno if it's maturity or just...

Look I interact with a lotta kids, and they are not alright. If you told me a large number of zoomers literally did not know how to invite their friends to real life activities, I would believe you. I've spoken with a lot of Zoomers who are so socially awkward they don't seem to understand a spoken conversation. I feel like we have an obligation to invite them to stuff, just to show them that there is a world off the net that's worth living in.

That's how it always is. It has nothing to do with the "generation," but more the stage of life someone is at.

I didn't get invited to things with people a generation or two older than me when I was younger, because I was an immature little jerk. Now I do, because my stage of life is a lot more similar to theirs now that my kids are more independent and I've learned to behave.

Make friends across generational and income lines. Yes, it gets awkward sometimes.

The shitheads writing the culture war articles and voting for Trump and his kind in greater numbers than the boomers are Gen X.

Meanwhile me, who is lonely to tears, yet drinks alone and consumes brainrot content at the same time while crying:

[–] Mouette@jlai.lu 6 points 1 day ago

Hey, hope you'll learn to deal with self destructing habits, every steps in the right direction matters !

And dont be too harsh on yourself, perfect is ennemy of good as we say in France, especially if its derail you from wanting to get better :)

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They should make a group for people who drink alone to socialize with, like "Alcoholics Identified" or something.

Hey. Don't do that.

[–] Frosty_Pieces@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (5 children)

The first step to not doing that is to stop doing that.

You can DM me and we can be buddies. There's a lot of social groups or clubs you can join to make some friends- I know that advice is tired, but it really works.

Do you have some hobbies? I'll help you find a community or three. Don't have any hobbies? Let me know what you like and we'll find you some fun ones.

I know this is ironic on social media, but unplugging really helps me relax. Just no social media for a month. When I get antsy about it I do mindfulness exercises.

This one is just a personal recommendation though: I don't like to drink when I'm down. It's like keeping your head underwater while you're drowning. I know it can be a release, but I was able to find other releases and I think avoiding alcohol when I'm down has gone a long way to making me happier.

I was thinking the same thing lol.

Me and a couple buddies got motorcycles over the past year. We're literally going to go for a ride tomorrow, then meet at the local axe throwing range. I've been looking forward to it all week!

When the fuck did my 40 year old ass become a zoomer?

Easy fix: drink.

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 15 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Skip the alcohol and go to a modern laser tag arena with friends. Insanely fun. They somehow got the Halo 2/3 announcer over a massive intercom system, and they have similar games. Feels like a match from when we were kids!
