Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Yes. They will also sacrifice their own children and their wellbeing.

Conservatives will shit their pants if it means liberals are grossed out by the smell.

You forgot “I used to be a liberal until radical leftists started putting people up against the wall for mistakenly using the wrong pronouns. So really, it’s your fault that I changed my screen name to 14Pepe88, changed all my opinions about vaccines, want to abolish the income tax, and am now okay with concentration camps at Gitmo. So, like, now I’m a full-blown centrist, and you have only the Marxists to blame.”

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Oh man this is perfect lol

I remember a meme circulating a little while ago that went something like, ‘People who change their opinions because they’re annoyed by liberals are weak-willed; liberals are annoyed by other liberals every single day.’

[–] HiddenLychee@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

I see that shit so often on Reddit and you hit the nail on the head. Like so many people blame feminists or some shit for making them vote for trump.

[–] Scranulum@lemm.ee 45 points 21 hours ago

Oh god this was good, it nearly got me. Flawlessly executed. The wanton capitalization is just. Perfect.

Every fuck time there is a Republican president they claim he is sent from God. A new Messiah and anyone who doesn't pray to him isn't a real Christian.

It's manipulation and using Christianity as a weapon for political gain. Only the weak willed ones fall for that.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 15 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

This is why I laugh when anyone claims that church and government is separate in America. You literally swear on the Bible before taking office. Honestly, to me, America has always had a similar air of religious fundamentalism as some middle eastern countries. I have always seen them as extreme af. The whole abortion debacle is totally about religious values and religious control. No one can convince me otherwise.

[–] angstylittlecatboy@reddthat.com 1 points 2 hours ago

It's usually a Bible but you're allowed to swear on anything.

[–] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

You literally swear on the Bible before taking office

Haha and even more ironic here is that trump skipped this step this time and nobody said a word.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 1 points 8 hours ago

It is very funny. And honestly, good for him, but it is a bit funny considering his voter base.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Only the weak willed ones fall for that.

So, half the voting population.

Also, there has to be something else because I wouldn't consider myself strong-willed but I'd never fall for this sort of kneejerk rhetoric leading straight to kneejerk voting.

[–] ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al -1 points 14 hours ago

Half of the voting population? Where'd you get that from?

[–] eric5949@lemmy.world 58 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

I mean yeah.

If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.

LBJ was taking about race but the quote "give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you" applies pretty much universally to a third of the population, maybe more. Probably more.

[–] whodrankarnoldpalmer@startrek.website 32 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Of course. Does their voter base strike you as people who give two shits about their own well being?

They run on spite. They don’t want to win- they just want you to lose. And they’ll pretend to believe whatever might have to be true to make them feel like you have.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 14 points 22 hours ago (4 children)

Sorry but his voter base strikes me as people who only care about their own well being and they always flip their shit when the wrong people get burnt.

[–] QuarterSwede@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

This is accurate. I have a decent amount of Republican family and friends and this week was the first time I’d seen them go, “wait, oh HELL no.” I mean there is now a Republican group that is suing this administration for not following due process and circumventing Congress. That says a lot.

Just think about a retiree boomer who had their savings wiped out. What’s left to lose? Personally, I think there is a Julius Ceasar moment coming. Not condoning that but the writing is on the wall.

[–] Sciaphobia@lemm.ee 4 points 13 hours ago

It seems to be necessary that they both be personally affected, and recognize that, for them to start caring.

Sure, if “caring about their own well-being” = “maintaining their very fragile shitty worldview and trying to hide their pants-wetting cowardice about anything unfamiliar,” sure.

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 2 points 15 hours ago

That depends what you mean by "well being". Tons of MAGA folk have voted for Republicans who are cutting the social services they depend on. Clearly that is self destructive, and they know it. Rural hospitals, food stamps, national pension, etc.

That is to say, your comment doesn't line up with reality. There must be something more going on in their heads.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

For the cult? Yes. 100% and they will never come around. There were people in the concentration camps (single digit not trying to rewrite history, this is all according to eye whiteness accounts of soldiers that freed the camps) who were still 100% dedicated to nazism and Hitler.

[–] wisely@feddit.org 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Interesting do you have a source for this? I would like to learn more about the history. If not that's ok I can try to search for it.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 3 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Not a direct answer, but the nazis created hierarchies inside the camps:

https://arolsen-archives.org/en/news/prisoner-groups-in-the-concentration-camp-how-the-nazis-stigmatized-their-victims/

It stands to reason that some of the prisoners thought they were better than the Jews.

[–] eronth@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

They already have.

[–] FriendOfDeSoto@startrek.website 7 points 21 hours ago

It takes much longer to fall out of love than the other way around.

The good news is that the magas cherry pick what lies they want to believe. And they'll wholeheartedly believe when he says it wasn't his dumb economic policy but [insert scapegoat here] that increased the price of eggs twentyfold.

A gifted politician will find a way to give these people an out that doesn't require them to admit they ran behind the wrong fasces, but somehow reinstalls stability in DC. If you can't cut a path like that all they can do is double down because sure as hellfire they won't admit he was, or indeed they were, the problem.
