just got home five minutes ago. Hot. Had half a small eskimo pie, will reheat some curry and veg for dinner. Then make the cat tree and get Ted's scratching mat. Fix the washing machine. Then I might have that bath.

I did wash the floors at the old place, cleaned inside all the cupboards and got the scuffs off the walls. Oven isn't perfect but it's ok. It looks as good as it can.

good bye house, it's where i endured the covid lock down and had a bit of a life at uni and lygon st. 😿 It's where Bill and Ted came to join my little family. It's also where I cemented a really good relationship with Miss Seagoon and got to know Young Mr Seagoon very well. 😊

Sigh. You know how there are some people whose company somehow makes you feel more alone? I feel like that's this person I hung out with this evening... I basically felt like I was her uber driver. I have never liked the fact that she's 50% of the time on the phone when hanging out with me, in the past it was because I was helping her out with stuff but now I'm kinda done. The last straw was when we were supposed to have fish and chips after the sunset and she said she'd shout me, but then later on when I asked her where she'd like to go she said actually she has cramps and she doesn't want to eat. I think I'm really ready to let this one fade away (which is sad given I don't have many other friends but oh well)

Just enjoying my own f&c at home now, gonna rewatch last week's The Pitt and then enjoy this week's.

I went back to Resource Rescue craft supplies today, with a focus on getting soft fabric and things that can double as packing material for my move. I did manage a decent amount of fleece, and some felt squares that should work well between plates.

I also ended up with a couple of pieces of fabric that look like the stuff they use to cover bus and train seats - it should work well to re-cover Miss Meows tower which is getting a bit tatty. The blue won't really match anything else in the house, but you can't have everything.

Edit: Miss Meow has tested the fabric and seems to approve.

Cat. Sitting on fabric. As cats are wont to do.

The betting odds just flipped in Labor's favour for the first time in a long time.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

be interesting to see if they've "done enough" in the eyes of the people. Normally I'd say yes they did, but whilst coles and woolies screwing us every time any of us shop there I think labor might be victims of the capitalist system.

Lock down drill at MissGod school today. Robot Baby was involved. Luckily it didn’t cry. But what if?

Terrible things to consider this day and age.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

How was the baby involved? Did Phoebe craft a shiv?

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Baby called in a fake bomb threat to get out of a test they hadn’t studied for

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Baby did a bad, bad thing.

The baby is involved in everything but lacks the dexterity to fashion knives or other stabbing weapons.

Here's an important question that no one asked for.

Which shoe do you put on first left or right?

i'm a lefty and put the left first but it just dawned on me it doesn't make a difference.

Three gins worth of cleaning and dancing round the apartment. Need to pass the mop over the floors and do some clothes sorting but mostly done. And I wake up tomorrow to a clean kitchen.

Night all β™₯️

At the beach with a not particularly close friend for maybe the last truly warm evening... I don't hate the beach but man, give me a wide open plain or mountain forest or even a treed river bank any day. Something about the gritty sand and seagulls and stuff in the sand and the endless expanse of the water just makes me feel meh.

It's cool for people watching when it isn't too hectic though.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

I like them all equally. 😊

What a shitty week. Work finally done, going to go for a walk to soak up the last of the warmth. Then I need to make my chocolate pie for a friends dinner tomorrow, will have a beer during to make the process more fun. THEN I can relax.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Woah. Wait! Chocolate pie? More details please.

Sorry about your shitty week ❀️

Over the hump of being drained of all energy, which is nice, but lizard brain really wants to have a drink this weekend. We'll see.

Hoping for a swim after work if it's not too nasty, since it'll be the last warm day for a while. Been 2 weeks since my last date with the paddleboard and I miss it sorely!

Pet peeve: I loathe when people say "men and females", or "I need a female perspective", or "men have different X to females".

"Males and females/females and males" is fine.
"Men and women/women and men" also fine.
"Guys, gals, and non-binary pals" also fine, and it rhymes!

Females when using men in the same sentence is fucking gross and icky.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Anytime I hear a guy say females out of context I think of the ferengi.

I use female a bit when discussing anatomy, but that's the correct use imo. Eg, the female pelvis has a bigger hole in the floor for child birth, which is probably true of most mammals that have vaginal births.

Let me know if someone else wants to do tomorrows DT :) I've just been doing it because I'm awake at this hour lately. I haven't been doing it right on midnight, usually 10-20mins after lol.

I hope everyone has a restful and peaceful night! Sending you all my love and good vibes!

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (7 children)

The exact time of creation is really no issue. If we're all sleeping good and it happens at 5am then whatever. A bot would be nice, but the last thing I coded was hunt the wumpus in the 90s.

today is the last day of cleaning at the old house

i have learnt that the appearance of clean is more important than actual cleanliness in this case

so I am not going to knock myself out

i will dust but not wipe everything, vacuum once, not twice , just do the most egregious scuff marks on walls

fuck em

Project "drive this f'er off the cliff" has become project "lets just delete SOME stuff, not all" thank god. I think management may overestimated peoples knowledge of their own files. So thats awesome. in even better news this weekend we test the jayco out. VERY excited!

Omg just block their number or give them a consultation fee πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 10 points 1 week ago

Take a retainer for consultation, it's a sinking ship. $150/ph. $5k upfront retainer.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Duuuude, you are giving this person way too much grace. Are they an out of work friend or someone you just feel sorry for? You either need to be paid for this shit, remind them you no longer work there or block them. That company did you no favours, don't do them any more by helping an employee.

Yeah I blocked them. My pity meter is drained.
