RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

It is a Ford e-transit. Huge white empty sides. I will implement my favorite idea without fail.

It's for transporting my disabled mother around, but also for personal use. (I am too tall for normal cars so this will be my only vehicle)

Definitely make it an airbrushed wizard van!

Or even better a Warlock van

Saw a pickup some time ago where the person had painted on an epic scene of a wizard battling a dragon on their tailgate. Really well done, beautiful epic high fantasy chiaroscuro painting. I wish I could have taken a photo but...driving.

Hey, Indestructible Aura. The card that is neither an aura, nor does it grant indestructible.

It does, however, make me think “Hell yeah, brother” every time I see the art, which is ideal for painting on a van.

Put this fella on the side of your van

[–] CrazyLikeGollum@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I kind of want a Subaru Baja with that on the doors.

Some kind of innocuous but official sounding government agency.

Department of the Interior Development or something… liberally apply reflective striped tape in random spots, toss a yellow light-bar on top… you know, make it look official.

Now enjoy parking anywhere for extended periods of time.

Or just copy any of Krieger‘s vans from the show Archer.

I like this, some made up meaningless inefficient chaotic bullshit, maybe call it Department of Government Efficiency 🤷

Go out and paint bike lanes, encouraging cycling means less traffic for your van.

[–] sramder@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I’m going to switch my vote to the hybrid approach; paint the van to look like a bike lane, then you can park in any bike lane. Plus it’s just taping off two stripes and hitting it with a can of driveway crack filler.

Hire a local artist to do a mural!

I particularly love Vanispheres, although the title album is pretty great too.

[–] CephaloSquad@discuss.online 1 points 1 week ago

That would be hilarious!

"Starry night" on one side, "the scream" on the other. But only if you can get the number plate "Van Go".

UNMARKED POLICE SURVEILLANCE VAN

[–] zvendo@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

a picture of that van. I'd do it

[–] musubibreakfast@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Put your disabled mother on the side of the van but with her face painted into famous scenes from the history of film. Your mom as Tony Montana wielding an assault rifle, your mom as the Big Lebowski holding a white russian, your mom as Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 doing pull-ups, your mom as Robocop shooting off a guy's dick, your mom as Nosferatu emerging from the shadows, the possibilities are endless.
