Yep. Tons of recalls and it doesn’t help people get locked in them and die thanks to fires or other causes.
You are statistically more likely to die in a fire in a Cybertruck than a Ford Pinto

Most modern pickup trucks in the US are also not all that great at being a bare-bones, knock-around utility vehicle, which is what trucks were historically used for. The modern pickup is mostly more-or-less a luxury vehicle, not a workhorse. I'd say that it's actually not all that out of line with what's happened to trucks more-broadly.

When I bought my Tacoma I was horrified to learn they no longer make the "small one", and I was only bon Gen 2 of the Tacoma's. They've gotten even bigger I think

Their core demographic is people who only survived childhood due to the vigilance of others. It's not really a growth market.
They're ugly and apparently the build quality is shite. Even without the inescapable nazi association I can't imagine they would have sold lots.

I had a BMW for a long time, and i was really quite the anti BMW driver, at least if you care what redditors say. I never rewlly understood the whole car cliché thing, BUT, fuck me i hate tesla drivers. Somehow they are always on their phones. Like phone on their head, not with the fancy bordcomputer. And because they are always on their phone, they can't use turn signals. And even that aside, most tesla drivers seem to have a lot of trouble driving.

This gif is so fun to analyze, in the show you only see the scene briefly so it seems just fine but the longer you watch it loop the more you notice the flaws that they could get away with in the format.
- Front wheels pop in and out of existence
- Horn on the top bounces upwards when facing away
- The antenna is always behind the bubble dome even when it should be in front of it
- Homer suddenly flips all the way backwards when the car is roughly facing to the right
- The entire scene is static except for the car itself and a single blink for Herb
- The spoiler slopes down when its on the left but up when its on the right

In the case it wasn’t even a Tesla car, they range from $80-100k USD, with discount and tax credit it goes for $67-87k USD.
When you have so many other around that price range from BMW IX, Rivian R1s, Cadillac Lyriq, etc. I genuinely think you’re an idiot going for something that looks like that.

There have been other whacky vehicles that were rubbish, but they were often the projects of passionate amateurs, whereas this car built was by slaves.
The people building it thought was stupid, didn’t want to do it. The engineers saw it as a burden and found no joy making it work .
