The trump economy had a decent distance to fall for most people. The whole regime was a clusterfuck, but it was only starting to hit the majority of people in 2019. That was massively overshadowed by the pandemic which many people don’t realize how much worse we handled it than other countries like France and Vietnam. Well now that we just barely touched a soft landing for his fuck ups they’re about to see how bad his economic policies are. We’re gonna get fucked in the ass but unable to afford lube

It’s both. Both groups should act as though the other is as much of an unreasonable jackass as they tend to be

I sincerely hope you’re right

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 14 hours ago

In my experience mostly yeah. Except my first one, 2012 was a glorious election

My sneezes do sound like I’m screaming “Achtung!”

Ok, but are you building popular support for this elsewhere? What I proposed is mutually palatable to a huge portion of Americans. What you proposed doesn’t have the base yet, much less if you’re asking us to risk everything for it.

Oh good, last time fascism rose in the west they were at each other’s throats

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 6 points 18 hours ago

Yes. America has always been two countries. I hate the America they love and they hate the America we love. And the problem is that these Americas have always existed together. We’re the Union to their confederacy. We’re the premature anti fascists to their silver shirts.

I think that if he can form a party out of progressive democrats in congress or convince several progressive democrats in congress to defect to an established third party he’ll have a chance. That’s basically how the republicans formed from the whigs. The biggest problem third parties have right now is no faith. Dems currently have extremely low faith, and so if a new party starts campaigning from the democrats’ former members I might actually consider voting for them.

I shut my mouth for Hillary, I shut my mouth for Biden, and I shut my mouth for Kamala. Each time I tried to be enthusiastic for the opportunity to engage in anti fascism by doing something as easy and low risk as voting. But they kept heading rightwards.

I maintain that Biden was way better than I’d expected, but still I’m tired of this. I want someone who will campaign like Bernie. I want someone who will fight for me as a worker and as a trans woman and as an environmentalist who’s young enough for environmental concerns to be self preservation. And I want someone who will actually target the right wing violence I’m afraid of.

Exactly, we need to prepare for a hearts and minds conflict with the concept of fascism and those enacting it. Ideally this will wind up a free election in two years where we make the fascists incapable of legislating. But it may require other forms of resistance.

He won against a sitting president that had botched a pandemic so poorly that people seem to have forgotten that he spent the previous 3 years as a national embarrassment and complete buffoon

Yeah, he seems committed to collapsing a strained economy. It’s going to hurt. With any luck he’s going to struggle with his social control problems and focus on doing things that hurt everyone.

I figured I might be able to find some answers here. I've been off and on trying to install home assistant after setting up an old desktop with proxmox, but I've never been able to get it running. I've been getting this issue:

[supervisor.docker.interface] Can't install ghcr.io/home-assistant/qemux86-64-homeassistant:2024.10.3: 500 Server Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.47/images/create?tag=2024.10.3&fromImage=ghcr.io%2Fhome-assistant%2Fqemux86-64-homeassistant&platform=linux%2Famd64: Internal Server Error ("Get "https://ghcr.io/v2/": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)")

Attempting to go to ghcr.io/v2/ seperately in browser results in it saying I'm unauthorized

But I’ve been getting this error:

[supervisor.docker.interface] Can't install ghcr.io/home-assistant/generic-x86-64-homeassistant:2024.4.4: 500 Server Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.44/images/create?tag=2024.4.4&fromImage=ghcr.io%2Fhome-assistant%2Fgeneric-x86-64-homeassistant&platform=linux%2Famd64: Internal Server Error ("Get "https://ghcr.io/v2/": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)") [supervisor.homeassistant.core] Error on Home Assistant installation. Retrying in 30sec

I’ve tried changing DNS, but it didn’t help and I seem to get no other helpful results from searching. If anyone has any suggestions I’d appreciate it as this seems to be something my home could benefit from but it’s just not loading beyond the CLI
