Summary

Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as U.S. health secretary has sparked backlash, with critics labeling Kennedy, an anti-vaccine activist and conspiracy theorist, a “clear and present danger.”

Advocacy group Public Citizen warned the appointment could lead to a “public health catastrophe,” while physicians condemned Kennedy’s history of spreading vaccine misinformation, linking it to fatal outbreaks like the 2019 Samoa measles epidemic.

Kennedy has also promoted debunked health claims, including raw milk and ivermectin for COVID, prompting fears his leadership could undermine U.S. health infrastructure.

The United States is fucked if you get another pandemic, isn't it? They already did everything wrong on purpose last time but now it seems worse. It's as if they want to maximize death by preventable disease.

We are extremely fucked even without a pandemic

[–] TowardsTheFuture@lemmy.zip 22 points 2 days ago

They’re rich. They want any kind of disaster they can get. So they can buy up more shit for cheap while the peasants struggle to survive.

The United States is fucked.

We're already shambling slowly into an antiviral resistant H5N1 pandemic at the moment. It has the potential to make COVID look trivial if (and at this point almost certainly when) it kicks off. We had an opportunity to contain it when it was only working its way through our livestock industries but the CDC and Dept of Agriculture decided that "Don't ask don't tell" was a better policy for the dairy industry.

All these fascist fucks are.

At this point, I’m hoping things get so incredibly bad that the western seaboard just secedes.

I'm fine with the Pacific States of America and the Atlantic States of America doing their own thing. Jesusland in the middle though? I want border controls on those idiots.

What about Colorado and New Mexico

[–] seaQueue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Independent city states, huge swaths of both would likely decide to stay with Jesusland

Just take Eastern Washington, too. Don't let us become super Idaho.

We've already pretty much given up on everything east of Leavenworth.

This man (Trump) is forming a very powerful and also very unique squad.

I NEED MORE POPCORN

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm glad it's so entertaining for you to watch generations of lives destroyed

[–] TexMexBazooka@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

I mean shit I’m one of the lives being destroyed and even I have to admit it’s entertaining in a “train wreck full of my friends and family” kinda way

[–] Grogon@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Didn't they vote for that to happen??

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Millions of morons did. Probably makes you morally corrupt to think it's entertainment because it's under the false premise that the destruction of the victims is desired.

Uniquely brain damaged 😅

I wonder if a brain worm is considered like bonus rarity when collecting forms of brain damaged political figures- like a holographic trading card

[–] seaQueue@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Watching them commit political Sudoku never gets old. They'll never work in govt again after a post in his administration.

Yeah, but immunity and all that. And the grand voice of democracy.
