Summary

Hospitals are reporting an increase in insurance denials, particularly for Medicare Advantage plans, which are allegedly being targeted by AI algorithms.

These denials have led to delays in patient care and increased administrative burden for hospitals.

The Senate has called out the use of AI in prior authorization, suggesting it may be used to deny care and drive down costs.

On of my clients has needed testosterone supplements since he was born because bacteria ate away at his pituitary glad before he was born and every month we have to play 5-10 hours of phone tag just to convince the insurance company to keep letting him. They often switch brands on him whenever they want, there have been months he wasn't able to get it at all too. Typically this results in grand mal seizures. The evil these companies do cannot be understood until you see a 30 year old disbaled man violently shaking and flailing on the ground because a company decided they know better than his doctor. More than once it's taken two of us to help him stay in a position where he didnt drown in his own saliva. All over a hormone as simple and old as testosterone. If this was your son, or your brother, how long could you stand by do you think?
