I had an IUD (Mirena) and never gave birth and it was the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was yelling and crying in pain during/after insertion. Removal was easier but still pretty damn painful. I took some ibuprofen before hand and it did not really help.

Ditto. It was totally worth it, I loved my mirena. But yeah it turns out you can pass out from the pain of having your cervix tugged on, and my doctor told me to quit being so hysterical. Like I was making a choice to lose consciousness for the fun of it.

I didn't even get ibuprofen, I just got some mifepristone in advance that does not treat pain at all.

I've heard horror stories about this. I'm glad changes are being made, hopefully they make an impact.
