  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Fracture, baby, fracture!

This is what y'all dipshits get for following a cult of personality in a game of politics.

Amateur hour. Read a book.

I may be a bit too optimistic, but it would be amazing if this was the election that broke the republican party.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 12 points 3 months ago

I thought 2016 was the time sigh. Then 2020 but nope.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

They ought to go the way of the whig, but it's too much to hope for

[–] Alteon@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Oh, but it can't :). Trump owns the Republican National Committee - Trump's DIL, Lara Trump is the head of it. Republicans went ALL IN on Trump. Lol

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 27 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Not just that, but they made their object of worship a man who was already well-past senior status when this whole thing started. Why would you have ever put all your chips on this guy (Trump in 2016)???

Jim Jones started Peoples Temple I'm his 20s and fucking ran with that for decades

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 47 points 3 months ago (1 children)

THIS is his Modus Operandi. We will go a week in between horrible shit he says, probably less as time goes on. He can't help himself.

Can't wait for him to fucking lose.

[–] BreadstickNinja@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago

I'm hoping we get into a positive feedback loop of Good polls for Harris -> Trump loses his shit -> Trump lashes out embarrassingly and loses support -> Good polls for Harris. So far it seems to be working.

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 45 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Bold of you to insinuate any of them are capable of embarrassment.

[–] JaymesRS 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I’ve already seen quite a few that are framing it as though the audience was eating out of his hand and for him against the interviewers

[–] mPony@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

No matter what utter embarrassments happen, those same sycophants will frame it that way. How anyone would choose to believe it is beyond me

[–] Guy_Fieris_Hair@lemmy.world 37 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Lol. They don't care and it changes nothing. We all knew he was a racist piece of shit last week, and now we still do.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, being a racist piece of shit is why he gets all those votes.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 10 points 3 months ago

nazis support this guy and he won't condemn them. All i need to know about him.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 25 points 3 months ago (2 children)

It is not possible for a conservative to be ashamed of bigotry. Bigotry is just who they are at their core.

Conservatives are proud of Trump's behavior. That's why they chose him as their representative. They could've choosen anyone in the nation to represent who they are, and they chose Trump to reflect their values. He is their reflection.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago

They might be embarrassed by his making a fool of himself but they support him because they agree with his positions.

[–] cultsuperstar@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

It's why they mimic his behavior too.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 21 points 3 months ago

Let them feel the burn of Trumps candidacy. They put him in this place and sowed the wind, let them reap the storm that makes them unelectable, too.

[–] aseriesoftubes@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago

Weird old bigot does weird old bigot things; nation shocked

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

"Trump did more for Black Americans than any President in at least the last 50 years. VP Harris' honeymoon will soon end," LaLota added.

Is LaLota braindead?

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 months ago

He's got an R next to his state. Chances are, yes.

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 15 points 3 months ago

I don't think those quotes show Republicans reeling from anything. Those politicians know that Trump is a racist jerk, and they're okay with it. However, they are trying to get votes closer to the center, or by people who are closet racists but polite in public, so they wanted to mildly distance themselves.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 11 points 3 months ago

They're always aghast at something, yet they still fall into line.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I don't get it? How are these remarks more embarrassing than so many other idiotic and false remarks he has made about his previous opponents, and on so many issues?
Seems to me nothing really changed, but maybe some people are beginning to get tired of it?
The real funny thing is how he constantly waves his hands in front of him to put them in a perspective where they look bigger.

[–] APassenger@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

They're different because more people are paying attention and he's finally on defense.

Biden couldn't get press that wasn't about infirmity. Trump only got passes. Things have changed.
