Go S.Korea!! This is the kind of shit we need in the US too! The amount of inspirational stuff coming of of Korea right now is amazing.

He gave them table scraps while feasting with his cronies (remember those COVID checks?).

Just look at what happened the farms after Brexit. Lol. That will tell you all you need to know.

I don't believe that it is. I believe that the problem lies in the fact that we're not communicating effectively with the voting base. Her policies we're not bad and effectively DID target the working class, for example child care and expanding taxes on the upper class. Her economic policies were strong and we would have seen benefits. However, none of this matters if this information isn't getting to the voter base.

Conservatives are actively targeting Gen Z and nonpoliticals with absolutely bullshit lies - for example, staying that liberals are actually racist, that DEI is making things worse for people, and that our whole policy is based on insults and hatred. Of course, to anyone paying any attention, this is blatantly false....but to an outside viewer, whose struggling to make ends meet, who's single and insular, whose constantly told that women have it rough (and nothing about how to deal with men's problems) they find the conservative arguments start to gain roots.

We want to win next time? We need to talk to people. Tell them what being a man really means. That empathy, not control, is what a society like the US should be based on.

Hey, so the 15 million thing isn't true. That was the number before all of the votes came in. She actually gained votes in battleground states, but lost them in non-battleground states (states that didn't really matter). Just a heads up. We need to be using facts here (not trying to attack, just trying to get that information out).

I can't believe there's even a risk of people voting in someone as morally repugnant as Trump.

I engaged with you in good faith, and you were merely a troll. Got it.

I find it fascinating that the one of the most consistent groups that I hear about playing hardball with Trump is a conservative group - The Lincoln Project. Like, do we not have any sort of "we play dirty" liberal groups that dig up shit like this to show Trump's hypocrisy? The Lincoln Project is buying billboards, they are all over the news week after week? We need a liberal party with that same sort of girthy, 12" dick swinging energy.

Yeah, but at the end of the day we either want Lemmy to grow, or we don't. And if we make it difficult or awkward for people to use Lemmy, then we're shooting ourselves in the foot if our goal is to grow Lemmy's user base.

Marxist Leninist Socialists primarily, if you read my comment. I'm a Social Democrat, and I've received enough disrespect from ML Socialists, that I'm done trying to interact with them entirely. I get that your trying to minimize my argument, by acting like I'm attacking socialism entirely and act like I'm some sort of government plant....hence, again, why I'm stating quite plainly that I'm a Social Democrat.

The otherside of the coin is that I want to reform our system by trying to fix the problems of capitalism, and they want a revolution to completely dismantle it. I believe that the reality of implementing a socialist economy is completely unrealistic in a country as big as ours within the next 25-50 years, and that a revolution (which they are essentially advocating for) would introduce chaos and uncertainty into our country, and inherently the world. There's no reality in which the movement gains widespread popular support in the short time frame that ML Socialists want. I firmly believe that the transition to a social democracy is a safer, more logical transition, and that as we adopt socialized programs, provide a better landscape for unions, and start reigning in inequality, we will naturally have more widespread support for a transition to a more socialist economy.

Metaphorically speaking, I want to slowly fix the problems that have cropped up around my house and upgrade things over time....they want to burn it down and build something that they believe is better. And they don't like me because of that, that I'm essentially impeding their progress.

Still "irony" at it's finest?

My experience with ML Socialists has been nothing but hostile. Anytime I've had questions or tried to have a discussion with a socialist about socialism, the response has been nothing but pure acid from them. Change is slow, and we're slowly becoming more liberal as a people. They view socialized democracy as cowtowing to imperialism, and they seem to advocate for violent revolution to enact they're goals. I literally can't support that.

I would love for the US to become more socialized, for the workers to be more empowered, for people to live with better healthcare, less stress, and better safety nets...but as a social democrat, I'm the fucking enemy to them. As they described me, I'm imperialist scum.

I considered myself pretty far left.....but those people? They fucking scare me...

... But if it's more convenient for you to believe that I'm a paid government shill, then so be it.

I tried my hand at making a starter years ago and it went poorly. I was gifted some starter earlier this week and have been bulking it up in order to bake some bread this weekend. The starter is MUCH better than any of the ones I've ever made, so Ive had high hopes all week that my sourdough will actually come out decent this time.

I've been following this recipe, and it's been going....not well. Everything was weighed to the gram, including the starter, and "lukewarm" water was about 80ish degrees. The dough is so unbelievably sticky that I can barely scrape it off the sides of the bowl.

Is this normal? It's been years since I've done this so I'm back to questioning everything. I'm planning to just drop the whole thing into a Dutch oven and cook it, but I understand that I'm deviating from the recipe. My Dutch oven cooks were just so much better.

Cna anyone provide a better recipe for just a basic sourdough boule that you've had decent success with? I'd really like to continue baking bread, but I know for a fact that I'll wind up giving up again if I have too many failures (I think I baked 8 different times a few years ago, and I gave up because they were always so dense, and flat.). Really want something with a good, fluffy, stretchy crumb.

Any advice or questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My local board game shop sells Nemesis lockdown and I'm trying to decide if I should buy it or not. The game looks awesome, however, it's a little pricey.

Heard some people state that lockdown was a little harder to learn, and then they'd recommend newer players learn the original prior to getting the lockdown version.

I did have a few other questions about it though. Do the expansions work with lockdown? Is there any additional player expansions that you can add on to it? We have a gaming group regularly with 5 to 7 people, it'd be really nice if we could fit those additional two people on.
