Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

It should be mandatory to arrest a police officer on the spot the same as you would any other civilian breaking the law.

It’s been awhile since I took criminal justice but I’ll try to rattle a few off the top of my head. Feel free to chime in with your additions or why you feel something I picked wouldn’t be appropriate for a charge.

Reckless endangerment
Vehicular assault
Assault with a deadly weapon
Brandishing a firearm

Yes apparently they were on native land so that completely precludes the idea that they should act even semi reasonably.

The “Just drive through the protestors” rhetoric on Reddit is absolutely insane. It explains the majority stance on bikes in the US as well.

“I am a weapon and I’m driving one so I’m going to use it to make sure I get to my unimportant coffee 2 minutes faster.”

I got hit by a truck riding my bicycle to work last September in the US. I’m actually working on a YouTube video that will recount my story and hopefully serve as some advocacy for changing the laws.

I was also on a “bike” road when I got hit by that oversized emotional support vehicle 😒

Talk about overreacting and escalating the situation. What even was Rambo's chain of thought?
