I bought a computer for study a few months ago. About 2 years ago my sister spilled tea all over it, she never apologised, never admitted it, never offered to pay for a new one. I am convinced my mother doesn’t believe me what happened that night and that is why she has never said anything to her about it. For the record I am 28 and she is 33. I am still upset about it today but whatever. I bought a new one a few months ago and have resulted in becoming possessive over it. I’m scared it will be broken again and I don’t let people touch it. The other day I got up for two minutes, sister came back from a walk, I usually put the thing away when she is around. I got up for two minutes and by the time I got back she had thrown her rubbish on it to spite me. Ice cream wrapping just to spite me. I was crying and screaming in frustration begging her to stay away from it. Mum told us to shut up calling us animals. I turned on her and told her to shut up. I’m trying to protect my property and I’m not spending more money. I told her she sat back and did nothing while the computer was being broken the last time and how she believed my sisters lies over me, which I’ll never forgive her for.
I know I probably overreacted, I just got so upset. AITA?
Just block it so you don't see this community.
I want to see this community in my feed. I appreciate many of the bots round here. I just think it is spectacularly boneheaded to be botposting Reddit in this particular community. It does not work here.
I disagree, an AITA community won't really work here until it is easy for people to make a throwaway account and know they will get responses. So for now reading them posted over from Reddit keeps me from going on Reddit.
Honestly, I sympathise with that. I miss them too. But I don't think you can build a community by dumping a lot of zero-replies posts on it. It is providing some good reading but it can't supply any engagement.
I may be noticing it more because I browse by new to keep my feed updated more often. So I get half a page of bot-posted threads in this community and it stands out more than it might otherwise.
Your point about the need for throwaways is a good one. I'm sure I did sign up to a Lemmy instance without having to give an email address but if I did, I can't remember which one. And of course, that policy makes all of Lemmy vulnerable to bad actors. It would be good to have an instance that specialised in throwaways though.
Also every few days the bot seems to not work because nothing new comes up then when it starts working again a whole bunch load up all at once. If you loaded up Lemmy around when it started working again then you would have been inundated with them.
I like your idea about throwaway servers where you can maybe only throwaway accounts can post but only regular users and the OP can reply in the post so you don't get a bunch of bots in the comments.
