Americans who pronounce 'Dubois' as DEW-boyse and DU-bwah depending on personal preference.
We just do that. Miami, FL is pronounced differently than Miami, OK.

Sure we could find other examples.
edit = Someone elese did 'Arkansas' and 'Kansas.'
Sometimes they're just named after different guys. Like Houston Street versus Houston, Texas.
