I think his point was more that politicians are just so used to coverups and lying that they do it even when it's right in front of our faces. We could see for our own eyes that Biden was unfit to run, but were gaslit up until the debate when he stood down.
And the same things are all true of Trump; we can see with our own eyes how unqualified he is, but everyone insists on pretending otherwise.

Both of my parents have dementia. I have relatives that died after living with dementia for a while.
Biden's level of dementia takes 3-6 years to reach that point. There is no way people around him and higher ups in democratic party didn't know he had dementia.
I am deeply sorry to hear about your parents, that is a horrid disease and I hope they can be peaceful.
Oh they knew, I suspect that if Biden won, the cabinet would have used the 25th Amendment and put Harris in control. Not the worst plan in the world, but a stupid one.
Yeah. I feel like almost everyone misunderstands Jon. He calls out shitty government behavior.
Republicans being a bursting cornucopia are statistically certain to spend more time in his sights, but Jon has never given Dems a "pass". Also, his monologues aren't just "Republicans dumb", they're incredibly informative about how the systems are supposed to work. He sneaks in legitimate government literacy lessons. Jon is a genius of our time.
This is what every other comedian trying to be Jon... Even on the tonight show, doesn't seem to have internalized.
Jon deserved a break... But his original retirement left such a void.
I remember when Jon wanted Biden to drop out after his poor debate performance, and people said he was being unfair because he [checks notes] wanted Trump to lose.
Or they were rightfully worried that changing course that late in the game would have consequences.
Biden should not have run in the first place. Speaking up that he should step aside like 2 months before the general is not the time to do it, all that does is sow further dissention.
And look how that turned out.
Biden had internal polls showing he would lose and Trump would have 400 EC votes. That's a bigger loss than Harris had later that year. That's why he dropped out (along with pressure from the donor class.)

Democrats own internal polling showed that Trump was going to win 400+. This is why Nancy Pelosi picked up to phone and started pressuring him to drop.
Don't bother, Biden stans don't listen to the news, they think its all a grand conspiracy like Trump supporters.
Really well until it was Harris saying she was just going to do everything Biden told her form off stage and dismissed the pain if the average citizen?
I still haven't figured out how to download only the Monday episodes of TDS. Until then I guess I'm stuck watching on yt. The others are OK but Jon makes the show.
Agreed. Lying is the default. No one is surprised at all if politicians lie. And theres no accountability because of it, so why not lie.
