Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Donald Trump argued that a GOP budget bill should help only Republican states instead of benefiting Democratic governors.

"We're going to make a couple of tweaks," Trump said of his "one big beautiful bill" during a Tuesday trip to Capitol Hill. "I mean, we don't want to benefit Democrat governors, although I would do that if it made it better, but they don't know what they're doing."

"We want to help all the states, but we have governors that are from the Democrat [sic] party, let's say New York, Illinois, big ones, and let's say Gavin 'Newscum,' who's done a horrible job in California."

California, Oregon, Washington. I think you should join Canada! Free Health Care. It’s not perfect, but you won’t lose your house or life savings if you have a health issue.

Keep in mind, California has a higher population of Conservatives than the total population of these states: Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana, Maine, and New Hampshire.

Like, I'm all for it — a lot of trash lives here, though.

Believe me, many of us are down for that. Or the Pacific States of America. Or Cascadia and the Republic of California.

It's the devastating war that would follow that we're nervous about.

[–] BlackSheep@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 days ago (4 children)

And here in Canada, we’re facing threats of annexation and crippling tariffs. From what was our closest neighbour and ally. We’re already devastated.

Michigan still loves you. This is like watching your drunk dad run out onto the little league field and start punching the refs and little kids.

[–] themadcodger@kbin.earth 10 points 2 days ago

We're still your allies and friends! We're devastated that it's come to this. You guys are the best!

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

The northeast still loves you. We’re sorry we invited that side of the family to the little league game and drunk red neck uncle is out there shouting gibberish and threatening everyone he sees

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Could you maybe hurry up and annex Minnesota in retaliation?

Perty please?

[–] Feelfold@lemm.ee 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The devistating war is already on, and has been for generations. Maybe it's a cold war from folks perspective, but I would contend that's a matter of privilege.

Cascadia and the Republic of California

Dibs on the band name.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I imagining a mix of grunge and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Not sure how that would work, but I'm sure you'd find a way to rock it.

[–] breakfastburrito@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Also where would California get water?

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Repurpose the golf courses and stop growing stupid water hogging crops in the fucking desert. The city I live in is unusual for Cali in that it has plenty of water.

We're already building desalinization plants along with more renewable energy than we need.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Same as now. The poverty-stricken inland will be desperate for the money and free to exploit their natural resources without regard to their future

[–] atmorous@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

Oi let's get a Revolt app server up and running for each state and get people on it to work together to make that happen

Especially to work on all kinds of issues, discuss things, inform each other, collaborate, & show progress/milestones for all kinds of things

That's what we're all missing. A huge community for each state with ability to set it to specific cities/towns while still being informed about whole state. And have a server for whole country too

That way we don't waste more time trying to reach out to people, or get people to do because we would all be in the same servers

California, Oregon, Washington. I think you should join Canada

And if we don't want them?

Even the most left-ish states are still relatively right leaning by Canadian standards.

California, Oregon, Washington.

New independent country. We'll call ourselves, "North Chile."

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

California is bigger GDP than Canada

[–] Mossheart@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Doesn't mean we want them... Y'all got serious social issues to sort out first.

[–] themadcodger@kbin.earth 3 points 2 days ago

Yes, please! I would gladly join, and a lot of us are down with that idea already.
