If your girlfriend is not fluent in french, I wouldnt go there if I was you.
Depending on your profession you could consider the UK or Ireland - or the Netherlands (or even Sweden, Norway) or larger cities in Austria or Germany. In either of these places you will get around with English until you picked up enough of the native language and then, people will still talk english with you.
Source: German with strong work-ties into the Netherlands that is married to someone not speaking German and getting along just fine for 6 years and counting.

Yeah, I get that this is important to certain people...and that writing better image descriptions leads to better inclusion.

Sometimes I am completely at awe how bad politicians are in playing chess. Look at Merz, for example.
He could have said "yeah, you know, we are in a coalition with the SPD, they were always against sending Taurus. So, we benched the topic until a later time, as we need to solve issues at hand, getting the government startet and all."
People would have been fine. That would be believable.
But then, he could have send a few dozend of the Taurus anyhow. Let the Ukraine plan a one time big attack on multiple important targets. Have them do it.
And then, when it becomes clear that it had been Taurus the were used, and Merz got asked why he "lied" or didn't say, he could have gone like "oh swell, Putin is fucking lying every day. Grow up, guys, this is a war and i wont explain my plans to you beforehand. Next question?"
But nu-uh. Everything gets spoilered months before anything might happen. Russia knows, prepares accordingly.

Want to point out that I had to attend a minute of silence during school after the terror-attacks of 11.09.2001 ("9/11"). And that was ok. I even remember how a teacher got into Trouble for not wanting to do it because we dont do shit like that when "others then westerners" die.
