Plenty of kids around that don’t have a full family to support them. These non-grandparents could volunteer as an adoptive grandparent if they’re that desperate to pass on knowledge and be around children.

What happened to The Living End? They always put on a great show at Big Day Out but we never really got them over in NZ for standalone gigs.

A Kiwi classic for the start of summer festie season.

AMD has clawed back a hefty 10% market share in the desktop x86 CPU segment over the last year. And that has us wondering, could those crashing 13th and 14th Gen CPUs be hurting Intel's sales?

I mean that’s a pretty obvious yes. Even if the 285k had been a decent product I still wouldn’t have considered it after seeing that Intel knew about oxidation issues and tried to hide it. Then you have the poor thermals and high power draw of previous 2 gens on top of the cpu problems. I’d already made up my mind to upgrade to AM5 before the 9800x3d was released and reviewed.

Lol, that was quick. Effectively, “Thanks for your supporters but we’ll be fine without you”.

Yeah I’ve been following it and seen that it’s crossed into pigs and onto a pig farmer. CDC’s work is going to become even harder under the new administration.

This bodes well for everyone if bird flu makes the jump to humans.

I’ve committed to being perma-stoned for the next 4 years. That should be fun.

Ahh that also explains why it seems to be a google only thing. Thank you though, knowing that it’s through the shopping api will hopefully help me find a solution (if it exists).

Google pushed their Ai Overview onto my country last night and that finally gave me the push to change search engines.

One thing I did find useful was having product prices displayed in the search result headers but this doesn’t appear to be enabled in any other engine. I used it to quickly scan between retailers as not everything shows up in pricespy or priceme.

I deployed a searxng instance this morning and have heard that you can use json to modify result presentation. Does anyone know if it’s possible to use that to display prices?

I’ve got a home server that I vpn into for pihole anyway so will just host it on the same machine. In theory I shouldn’t notice too much difference in the way of response time

The main issue is finding the time and energy to get it all set up and running properly.

Upgrading from an 8700k to a 9800x3d once it’s out. It’s currently a long weekend in New Zealand so there are some decent sales, but we do suffer from a real lack of choice. E.G I'm sure somebody will recommend the Tomahawk but it’s out of stock and NZD 500.

My main criteria for a motherboard is having 3+ m2 slots. I’d previously found the ASUS TUF GAMING B650-E ATX for NZD360, but the MSI X670E GAMING PLUS ATX has recently been listed for NZD400.

I’ve previously almost exclusively used Asus mobos and am not concerned about Asus’ poor reputation for RMA as we have legal consumer protections that mean I deal with the retailer not Asus. So I’m happy to go ahead with the Tuf but wondering if it’s worth paying the extra $40 for an x670e board?

Anybody have experience with either mobo they can share?

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Like anyone can fucking afford to buy coffee or lunch right now.

This hits really close to home for me.

I had severe migraines that would last for days over a 6-month period. I’d suffered periodic migraines from the age of 15 but this was something new where even when I didn’t have a “proper” migraine I still had a constant dull headache.

Nearly lost my job even after seeing the company doctor who noted that allowances needed to be made for my sick leave. Saw a neurologist, got an MRI, kept going to the doctor, and no diagnosis came out of it. I eventually had a seizure for the first time in my life and was rushed to hospital.

Finally, got a diagnosis of chronic daily migraines and was put on medication that has controlled them, but the damage it did to my career set me back by years. I was a high performer prior and then I was suddenly blacklisted from promotions because of my sick leave.

My heart really goes out to people struggling with the same pain who have yet to find something that works.

So I bought a second hand Reverb G2 in mid-November and of course a month later WMR was announced as deprecated.

I’m eyeing up a second hand Vive Pro 2 that includes the base stations. New this is retailing for NZD 2200, but I can grab it for NZD 1400. I’ve also considered the Pimax Crystal, which I can just afford, but it’s NZD 2900 and I’m a bit put off by it using a battery pack and still using proprietary software.

I’ll be using it primarily for simracing and my thought process is that the Vive at least has a steam app so if HTC stops supporting it I’m not completely screwed like I am with the Reverb. Pimax is different because their software is completely standalone as far as I’m aware. So is it worth saving 50% or so and getting something comparable to the Reverb, or am I selling the Crystal short?

It’s match day!

Been great to discuss the games as they happen throughout the tournament. How are we feeling about this final?
