It's completely locked down by a donor class that prefers losing a hundred time to allowing one victory for the left. There's more room for criticism of the forever wars on the right, even of it's only performative Tea Partyesque babbling about how they were mismanaged and a waste of money. Interesting, I haven't seen the "pure AP" thing, will check it out. Yeah I'm not attached to any particular model of it, since there are pros and cons of each, and they have the same basic structure (communities on lemmy appear as users reposting whatever mentions them, you could represent imageboard communities the same way, etc etc). Hopefully people evolve beyond just imitating popular social media products.
