I find root essential if you use a custom rom. I usually buy cheap phones (like Poco/Xiaomi) and install a lineageOS build. Without magisk/kernelsu there are a lot of apps that are not going to work (like netflix, Google pay, bank apps, et...).

Nowadays most developers consider that you are a terrorist for having a non-oficial ROM and for me using the super bloated MIUI rom is not an option. If you have a good base os like pixelos, samsung's os or similar maybe you don't need it.

Also being able to fully block advertisement is a great plus of having root. I now that there are methods that does not require root but adaway, in my opinion, is the best.

And supermicro, gigabyte...

Supermicro new licensing scheme for new platforms requires a special license to mount media on the html5 kvm, so you must use the annoying Java version if you need that or don't want to pay a 200$ extra feature unlock.

Also in that case I only was able to run it with the supermicro utility for Linux, which includes its own Java distro.

Why it should need dhcp? You can configure bmc's IP from the bios or from the system running ipmitool. I never use dhcp for the ipmi's ip, it is better to use a static one since it is better to keep always the same one.

Yes,I manage some servers with this config and it should work very well.

The only problem is that some old ipmis (and some new) use Java web start (.jnlp files) for the remote control feature and that is being phase out, so in some cases I have to use a vm with an old Java version to connect. Modern ipmis have also html5 kvm which is much more useful.

I mean as a native feature, without all the hassle of having to install third party apps and windows drivers to use it.

It does not make sense to have four cameras in most today's phones and having to spend 100$+ in a webcam that performs worse than your mobile.

Finally, this was a feature needed for so long...

Nope, that is not how it works. Take a look to Elon's Twitter account and if you still think in the same way it is probably because you are a fascist also.

You can patch rif application with a personal api key and continue using it. The instructions to do it are in ReVanced webpage (revanced.app). It does not require root.

You still can use it if you spoof the api key with revanced.

I keep using RiF to check r/ModCoord from time to time and see the death of the platform.

Maybe someone that has this problem can contact The Verge to provide information to write an article, they are doing a good coverage on Reddit's news.
