So yeah "things" are shittier, because nowadays we have the ability to live in a nearly post-scarcity society but we just don't wanna.

Humankind could have been living in blissful peace for centuries. We've always had the ability to not kill each other or fight for resources. But many people, then and now, don't want that.

The way civilizations/empires/countries have operated has largely been competitive. It's naive to think we'll all just come together and solve these very complicated problems.

Saying that people are stupid or racist... I don't think that barely has anything to do with what prevents all major countries of the world to work together to combat things like disease, climate change, inequality, etc.

How do you define "things"?

On a global scale and on average, life for humans is getting significantly better than, say, a century ago. The number of people dying from preventable diseases, war, natural disasters has been steadily going down for a while now.

Of course there are many more people on earth than there were 100 years ago, so accumulatively there is a lot more suffering now.

Also, the lives of individual people, the state of certain countries and areas are certainly getting worse.

As for non-human animals... For most of them the world is getting increasingly less habitable and for those who are raised in an industrial setting for human consumption, living conditions are largely atrocious.

Don't like Real Madrid either but rather they win it than PSG, Man City, Chelsea, etc.

But yeah actually I think of the remaining teams I'd love it if Dortmund would win. Bayern rather than Real, Real rather than PSG.

Real Madrid I at least have some respect for as a club and institution. Not that they haven't done morally and legally questionable things, but PSG and City are operating on a whole different level in that regard.

Also to note: all they say about the built-in password manager of Firefox is that it lacks the feature to save credit cards. But I don't care about that and am perfectly happy using Firefox (alongside pass (https://www.passwordstore.org/) on my laptop).

Around 2004 we had some people over for a card game night. We were all sitting on our house's big terrace, where we had also put this type of lamp. The terrace was open to the outside and the lamp attracted a large amount of bugs, which would burn and start to smell, the same smell you are remembering.

To stop this from happening, my brother decided to put a kind of glass plate on top of the lamp as a cover. Initially this worked great and the smell was gone.

10 minutes later, the glass had gotten so hot that it exploded violently, shooting shards of glass all across the terrace. It was a lesson learned.

Ik heb zelf nu NextEnergy. Vind het fijn dat ik maandelijks kan opzeggen en dat je de prijs per uur kan zien en dan plannen wanneer je bijvoorbeeld de wasmachine aanzet vind ik erg handig. Als je een elektrische auto hebt kan je daar best veel geld mee besparen.

Maar ik mis een API voor de uurprijzen. Nu moet ik op hun website kijken met een heel matige grafiek. Heb ze gemailed over een API maar die was er niet zeiden ze. Ga nog een keer contact met ze opnemen. Als die er nog steeds niet is ga ik kijken naar een alternatief.

Ik zou graag een simpel programma schrijven dat mij een bericht oid stuurt als de prijs onder/boven een bepaald bedrag komt. En wil niet een hele app oid daarvoor op mijn telefoon hebben.

At least in the Netherlands, the species of dairy cows are focused on dairy. If a bull is born it is raised for about half a year, then slaughtered and most often the meat is exported since calf meat isn't popular here.

At that point they are basically still babies, or at least the meat is called "calf meat".

Ik weet hier eigenlijk niks van. Als het klopt wat hij zegt, waarom zou dat zo zijn? Heeft niet iedereen recht op een advocaat? Ik snap niet waarom dit geval anders is. En wel typisch dat de NOS daar dan niet over doorvraagt. Ze gebruiken het als headline maar leggen niet eens uit waarom.

Jammer. Ging maar om een paar tientjes per maand maar kan voor sommige mensen een flink verschil maken. BBB wordt ge-highlight maar was natuurlijk niet de enige partij die tegen heeft gestemd. Arme mensen helpen is blijkbaar niet zo populair in de huidige politiek :(
