Finally, a banger shower thought. But now I've got an existencial crisis lol.
I am glad I went to visit America back in the day when it was still somewhat okay. It was 10 years ago. I wouldn't be able to visit again with a clear conscience.
Oh I do have smart home, but it is a closed system, running a an RPi 4B locally, with Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT, and accessible from the internet only via a Wireguard, which bounces through a VPS somewhere in Paris. I am not dependent on any cloud infrastructure, so as long as my RPi is running, I can do this forever as long as the hardware doesn't break - and then I can just swap the devices with the same type as long as it does Zigbee.

That goes against democracy along with not allowing old people or people in prisons. It is opens the pandora's box to now allowing LGBT or people of color to vote by locking them in prison or fixing IQ tests to yield low scores.
