Ok that's great to hear. Basically it functions perfectly fine so long as you aren't stressing the system.

Nice research! Thanks!

That makes sense. I'm pretty sure all my chargers support voltages up in the 20s, I forget what the standard is. So perhaps that's the main factor.

Thanks for your input!

Interesting, so perhaps it could be an issue. I'd be curious to find out!

Hmmm, well USB PD is pretty universal and I imagine that's what framework uses?

18w is pretty low, I agree and I wouldn't expect that to work. But the 13 inch framework uses a 65w power supply so it certainly seems in the realm of possibility. To me anyway.

I'd love to know if anyone has tried it

That's fair. I figured as much. I'm still doing most of my couch computing on a 2016 Chromebook. It calls for a 45w charger, but I've used my 18w phone charger in the past. It complains about it, but it still slooowly charges.

I was hoping the framework would fare better on 65w.

Again, not a big deal, just a talking point. Easily solved problem. Just curious. Thanks!

Hi there, I've been wanting a framework for awhile now, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I was perusing the website today, comparing the price and performance of different configurations, when I realized that the 16 needs a 100w power adapter, 180w if you've got the graphics card.

This is a dumb question, because obviously it would charge fine with the lid closed and idling or turned off. Or I could just upgrade my power adapters. But I have a lot of 65w USB C PD chargers in my house and cars, and I was wondering if anyone has tried using them, and if so how effective is it?

Like, 180w is a lot of power. If I'm just working on spreadsheets or something, I'm imagining it would charge just fine? Under a heavier load I would probably start to slip backwards? Where's the line? Movie watching? Light gaming?

Just food for discussion I guess, I still haven't pulled the trigger haha.

Thanks!

Eh it works just fine 🤷‍♂️

Roads are 55mph here, seldom any traffic, so it's more like 2 hours by bike. For us anyway.

That's pretty much how we do it, but with a phev and an SUV. On days we both work she takes the phev, I the SUV. When one of us is going somewhere we take the phev. But if it's snowing or we want to haul kayaks or load up heavy to go camping, the SUV.

The phev is "hers"and the SUV "mine". But only vaguely 🤷‍♂️ we don't actually care that much. But also it's not a free for all. She would probably be a little miffed if I just randomly took the phev to work forcing her into the SUV. But if we talked about it first she'd probably be fine 🤷‍♂️

Commendable. But many of us live where cars are the only practical way to get around. My wife and I both drive 30 minutes to get to work.

I was with you until the minute late thing. That's crap. Grace period?

Not that I try to be late, I'm 99% early. But I'd be ticked to lose an hour because of couple minutes late on a bad morning. Though I guess some people may need that painful motivation to not abuse the system.

The civet processed beans? I'm wondering if it's all hype? Or worth buying a bag to try?

Edit: Thanks for the responses everyone! I'm gonna pass on it 👍

I'm new to backpacking, did my first trip this year with a hammock and had a great time.

Trying to get my wife into it with me. We're planning on going to Iceland in September, no trees. Plus she sleeps cold so she'll probably be more comfortable if we're in the same tent.

I'm looking to spend as little as possible, we're really not sure this will be our thing going forward, it might just be something I do solo. And we already have a big six person tent for glamping with a big air mattress.

I'm hoping for under $200, less if possible.

But I also don't wanna buy garbage, or carry something excessively heavy.

Suggestions?
