Because they make a lot of money.

Would you be happier if it were paid DLC? It’s more fitting as a mod anyway, since the whole thing was very on-the-rails.

You’re right about that, but that doesn’t address the main concerns I made in my post.

Listen, I love my Steam Deck, but it isn’t a reasonable replacement for heavy Switch users, like this guy and his family. It’s not exactly a high-spec’d machine and as a result, in my experience, none of the Switch games play at their original FPS on the Deck. Some are so bad that they are unplayable. Online play is going to be, at best, limited and far more difficult to manage. Heck, setting it up in general for kids that probably just want to play the damn games is going to be more annoying. The worst part would be listening to, “Dad, why can’t we just buy a Switch?” a thousand times.

I don’t use my Steam Deck as a work machine, but I’ve also found getting external displays to be a bit of a chore. I’ve never gotten the DP to work and the HDMI is hit or miss.

That being said, the external display ports work more consistently with other hardware, like my laptop, so I think the issue lies with the Steam Deck.

I’m not saying my setup is any better, but it currently looks like this:

  • Firefox
  • UBO
  • SponsorBlock
  • Return YouTube Dislikes
  • DeArrow
  • Archive.ph

I’m open to suggestions if anybody knows any better alternatives. I’ve had mixed luck with services that filter out YouTube’s crap.

To be clear: solving the puzzle does not award you the console, it enters you into the sweepstakes.

Ah, yes, Ventoy, my favorite “open source” program. https://github.com/ventoy/Ventoy/issues/2795

"Management is focused on pleasing investors with beating quarterly results and not focusing on long-term strategy to provide exceptional experience for the gamers."

Ironically, I would say that’s one of the biggest reasons why their quarterly results are so poor.

I have a few programs that will reach out to the internet when the user explicitly checks for updates. Feel free to rip apart my amateur projects: https://github.com/Jestzer

Yup. Programmers who have only ever been programmers tend to act like god's gift to this world.

I recently made a program that will allow you to force checkpoints during the campaign of the Halo games on PC. It includes the MCC, the original CE PC port, Custom Edition, and Halo 2 Vista. I know there's a checkpoint manager that already exists, but I wanted to make something simpler and also wanted to learn more about programming something that plays around with memory. I will post a GitHub link below. Please let me know if you run into any issues with it!

Please also make sure you disable any relevant anti-cheat software before using it.

Not sure how this managed to show up.
