These justices seemed incredulous that since no state had needed to remove an insurrectionist in the past they were uncertain if a state could, as if we should expect insurrectionists running annually.
I’m not holding my breath.

The Library at Mount Char. I wasn’t sure what was going on/where it was going for much of it like a good Cohen Brothers movie. And there were definitely a few things that I didn’t expect to happen.
I finished all of The Queen’s Thief series, so now I’m back trying to finish out my Bingo Card from r/Fanasy. I finished the second Murderbot Novella by Martha Wells and The Haunting of Tram Car by P. Djèlí Clark. I’m on to Orconomics by J. Zachary Pike.
I thoroughly enjoyed Murderbot and am excited to return and focus on it.
Countdown City - #2:
Now Detective Hank Palace returns in Countdown City, the second volume of the Last Policeman trilogy. There are just 77 days before a deadly asteroid collides with Earth, and Detective Palace is out of a job. With the Concord police force operating under the auspices of the U.S. Justice Department, Hank's days of solving crimes are over...until a woman from his past begs for help finding her missing husband.
Brett Cavatone disappeared without a trace—an easy feat in a world with no phones, no cars, and no way to tell whether someone’s gone “bucket list” or just gone. With society falling to shambles, Hank pieces together what few clues he can, on a search that leads him from a college-campus-turned-anarchist-encampment to a crumbling coastal landscape where anti-immigrant militia fend off “impact zone” refugees.

World of Trouble - $3:
With the doomsday asteroid looming, Detective Hank Palace has found sanctuary in the woods of New England, secure in a well-stocked safe house with other onetime members of the Concord police force. But with time ticking away before the asteroid makes landfall, Hank’s safety is only relative, and his only relative—his sister Nico—isn’t safe. Soon, it’s clear that there’s more than one earth-shattering revelation on the horizon, and it’s up to Hank to solve the puzzle before time runs out...for everyone.
This is a fucking great book. If you even remotely enjoy the movie, you should read this. It’s one of the few where the book and movie hold up equally.
I was one of the scouts that did garbage cleanup for most of my time there. I miss the feast. I just found out about a local rendezvous, and so I’m excited for that in Minnesota this fall.
👋🏼 Previously (1991-2002) West Lafayette here.
Moved back to my prior, more lefty Minnesota where family is, but miss some aspects of Indiana.
What do you want on your Tombstone?
Fun game
Looks like the cutting board didn’t get put away last time it was used, does anyone know where it ended up?
