Because a lot of games have a story of some sort and traits can help flesh out a character?

When I was a kid scooters had little bike tires and bicycle handlebars, with bicycle breaks. Then these damn kids started making everything into blades and razors and the old scooters disappeared.

First in Cyberpunk, now this. I guess we honor those who dare to dream big.

It's crazy how these Satanists are indoctrinating children. It's not like a child just naturally chooses to be a Satanist- their parents put them up to it.

Ain't gonna have none of that shit in our home- we take them to church every weekend and make sure they believe exactly what we believe or I'll tan their hides.

My eyes are so far apart...

You act like people are just having sex all the time in real life, but as we all know real people rarely ever have sexual relationships. Now if the characters had to masturbate once a day to cartoon characters...

Sure, that sounds pretty impressive, but without another sentient civilization to compare to, how do we know we're really doing all that great?

We might be the special education class in the universe.

I like to give them diminutive nicknames. Bill is now Wittle Biwwy. You don't get to choose what we call you, asshole.

Didn't he? Wasn't that The Shadow over Innsmouth? At least that wasn't a euphemism for anything... Oh... ohhh noo...

It's almost as if a lot of the people who are really into Lovecraft or are out to use Lovecraftian influences kind of miss the greater concept and just end up falling on, "Yeah. Squid monster. Also he drives you insane. Got some neat language to use on that latter bit."
