The modern Russian government is essentially claiming the territory of the Soviet Union. The reason they started their invasion now is because it was the last chance before Ukraine would become a EU and NATO candidate. If Ukraine falls, Russia will rearm and try pull the exact same "little green men" strategy in the Baltic states, Georgia and Moldova next.

I don't think there are any other Instances aside from the default bsky.social‬ right now. It's only federated in theory and essentially a closed platform until that changes. Pretty sad that it gets all the attention instead of Mastodon.

There is some video evidence. Though it should be noted that since most of the fighting is happening through artillery exchanges and drones, individual soldiers can not necessarily be identified because they are all wearing uniforms of the Russian Armed Forces. Actual close combat is fairly rare and from what I've heard from Russian soldiers so far, the North Koreans do get better equipment so they probably get preferential treatment and are second line behind the assault waves.

DPRK soldiers have only been deployed to the Kursk area so far.

More empty threats.

declaring that a conventional attack on Russia by any nation that is supported by a nuclear power will be considered a joint attack on his country

Isn't that exactly what has been happening in Kursk? Kinda late to do anything about it.

Eight soldiers of the Svoboda Battalion of the 4th Rubizh Rapid Reaction Brigade held the defense near the village of Spirne near Siversk for 67 days. The last three weeks of which they were defending themselves in the encirclement.

[...]

On September 16, a Russian assault force attacked the stronghold with two tanks, two armored personnel carriers, and an infantry fighting vehicle, from which an entire assault platoon was landed. The soldiers repelled the attack and destroyed the entire enemy assault squad, but unfortunately, one of the National Guardsmen was killed. After that, it was decided to withdraw the soldiers from the position. During the defense of the position, supported by drones with provisions and fire, Svoboda fighters managed to destroy five dozen invaders and six pieces of equipment.

Cruelty Squad has been the most surprisingly enjoyable game that I've played in recent years. I initially thought the extremely positive rating was just elaborate trolling after looking at the screenshots.

I hope this is not one of those "you can use them, but only for..." situations again.

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 7 points 2 days ago

I've heard that too. But I bet there's going to be much more than that.

You can still buy and transport knives, they just have to be in a "locked" container. Basically just not easily accessible.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't contain any anti-Russian sentiments.

A guy with not one, but two knives was just stopped today by German police. They shot him in the foot and he's now in the hospital. In contrast, American cops always claim that hitting the legs is not a reliable way to stop an attacker. They always act like they are in a military occupation zone with suicide bombers at every corner.

Not really. The police can search you without cause, it's the whole reason "Waffenverbotszonen" exist.

This one was mine, a 1998 Mercedes W208. The nice things about it were the cool Mono-Wiper, the engine (supercharged 2,3L M111) and the seats that were perfect for my height. It had a terrible ASR system but came with a LSD, so it was lots of fun in the winter.

The not-so-nice things about it were that the ignition randomly would not recognize the key, a missing catalytic converter, two fist sized rust holes in the front control arms, rust all over the underbody and the absolute worst 6-speed manual transmission I have ever used.

It also had multiple alignments but it didn't take long for the steering-wheel to be off-center again. You could see the tail end "crabbing" in the rear view mirror. There was something very wrong with it, which can probably be attributed to one of the 7 previous owners.

This isn't even counting all minor annoyances like the frameless windows not lowering themselves when you open the doors (that was only a thing after the 1999 model year), the wind noise, the awful interior materials, the broken seat latch in the rear, the trunk lock not working... I could go on for an hour like this.

So anyways, what is the worst car YOU have ever owned?

When a simple one day job turns into a week-long project... Bonus points if you can guess the model.
