Also, unless your plan is to exclusively export to the US, then it's less cost effective to open up new facilities in the US. You just raise prices and and have the consumers take the hit for the tariff. There's also the problem of logistics for raw materials for whatever products your manufacturing. Those also tend to cost more to acquire stateside.

The worst part is that policy is only a single bullet in the policy foot gun Trump has loaded. It gets even more expensive when the low cost labor is suddenly deported and/or put in camps. Which I realize isn't even the worst thing about the immigration policy, but just pointing out that it too has consequences to these same people.

A bunch of enterprise services are Windows only. Also Active Directory is by far the best and easiest way to manage users and computers in an org filled with a bunch of end users on Windows desktops. Not to mention the metric shitload of legacy internal asp applications...

I haven't seen this shit in years. I used to browse reddit and that shit would always crack me up. This one time I was browsing at like 3AM and everyone was asleep. I laughed so hard I woke my little brother up. My dad came out of his room super pissed off. He just glared at me and walked straight out to the garage. When he came back he beat living shit out of me with a set jumper cables. Anyway, I stopped browsing reddit late at night after that.

I recieve 15+ phone calls and like 5-10 postcards a day. It's annoying as the ever living fuck after about a week. In fact, it has made me quite miserable and it makes my blood pressure go up when the phone rings. It gets compounded by the fact that I really need to answer my phone for my job. I have stopped politely telling them to not call, and to add me to the do not call list, and have become really rude.

Like you, I have already voted by mail. You aren't going to change anything by calling me at this point, nor would you have ever. I mean the choices in this election are a self-aggrandizing lunatic who wants to abolish the Constitution and normal politician. Do they think this is how you sway people? Via a harassment campaign? I just don't understand...

Okay but in fairness if you put like 1% of that money virtually anywhere but under your matress you'd probably be richer than Bezos now. Even at like 3% interest of a $18,250 compunded over 530 years you'd have about half of Bezos' net worth.

Not exactly a short story, but Kipling's The Young British Soldier still tumbles around in my head some 25 years later. Really cemented in me that I don't want to go die in some other country for some fabricated sense of duty to my country. Not that I wanted to at that point, but for sure made it seem like an extra terrible idea.
