I want an internet controlled plug but all I hear is how terrible the involved companies are, privacy wise. Fuck, maybe I'll make my own, I'm already casting grinding toys. I'm sure some people have put together an open source project for the hardware and software portions.

open source framework supporting sex toys are definitely the way. That way you can put them on your open source software powered local network, which is powered in turn, by open source hardware designs, manufactured locally to boost economic output. While utilizing other open source software tools to be able to interact with the required open source software implementation needed to use said sex toy.
