Why is everyone so negative in this thread? I didn't take time off for the release but I bought the Premium version to get the early access so that I can play on the weekend.

As for bugs in Bethesda games: I've played every BGS game since Morrowind (except Fallout 76) and since Skyrim I also played them on release day and I never experienced any game breaking bugs. Most bugs I encountered were more funny than annoying and a minor inconvenience at most. And that's applicable for almost all bugs in BGS games, yes they have bugs but most of them can be easily ignored because they don't affect enjoyment of the game.

Ragging on Bethesda games is just what people who can't form thier own opinions do. I'm with you, I've played most of thier catalogue and nothing has ever been unplayable.

"Everyone who disagrees with me is a sheep" is, ironically, not an opinion you yourself came up with.

This is why I decided to pre-order. Bethesda has created some of my all time favorite games. Yes, there are bugs, but like you said, they are rarely gamebreaking. I am excited! Hopefully this weekend will be fun!

Gamers can hold a grudge like no other asshole.

“I paid the equivalent of a restaurant lunch PER MONTH for THIS 76 BULLSHIT and I WAS NOT ENTERTAINED and there weren’t ANY PEOPLE NPCS and NOTHING WAS WORKING and ALL BETHESDA GAMES SUCK and and and”

Hang on you can't say "I've never experienced any bugs that are game breaking" and then go "oh but I also haven't played 76".

That whole game is one giant bug.

Isn't there a way to glitch through the map into a dev zone, and then get every gun in the game?

[–] bermuda@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

You're using present tense for bugs that happened 5 years ago.

I played the game about a year ago and it was good. Very few bugs and a friendly community. Only downside from my perspective was poor optimization and a gigantic file size but I suppose thats to be expected from a multiplayer rpg.

If you didn't expect Fallout 76 to be a giant dumpsterfire to be acoided, that's on you

I should just have booked a 3 months vacation, with all the games coming out aug-oct.

How, in the year of our lord, 2023, do people still buy Bethesda games on launch!?

HOW MANY LEOPARDS MUST EAT YOUR FACE!?

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I took a day off to play Distant Worlds 2 all day, no regrets at all it was a lot of fun.

[–] Vlyn@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

It's a Bethesda game, you're lucky to make it out of the tutorial without running into a bug :)

So no rush at all to play it, I'm waiting for reviews (and the first ten patches).

[–] muelltonne@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

It is a Bethesda game and we know how buggy they are on launch. I'm waiting a while until the worst bugs are resolved and maybe for the first sale hopefully around christmas time

Hopefully it's good. But it's a Bethesda game, so you'll be lucky if walking into rocks doesn't kill you.

I'd leave it at least a week if I were you. There is a 100% chance they'll be a game-breaking bug on day one. And there is a 50% chance that they actually fix it on day one.

I don't recall there being a game breaking bug in Fallout 4

[–] Conyak@lemmy.tf 1 points 1 year ago

You may not recall them but they were definitely there. One of the settlement quests would completely crash the game on the initial release. That said, I am sure that Starfield will be fun to play regardless of bugs.

I’m not playing it myself because the genre is not what I like but I’m hopeful that it is good. I have started to worry about Bethesda’s ability to make good games anymore and that concerns me when looking forward to ES6.

[–] howsetheraven@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh that settles it then. Specifically you can't recall a bug from a video game that came out 8 years ago that fits into your personal definition of game-breaking.

Must have been a perfect product.

Who pissed in your cornflakes?

[–] Nomadin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

No time off, but I will definitely work play time in as much as possible!

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

i took work off a week after its real release but i cant wait to play it all weekend . doubt ill see any bugs as i didnt for fo4. this isnt like its an obsidian game we're talking about😂

[–] simonoid@aus.social 2 points 1 year ago

@Demigodrick I started a new job and don't have enough banked 😭
I'll spend many an evening playing ❤️💕

[–] pushECX@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Took a week off starting on September 1st.

I am not a huge Bethesda fan or anything. I played some Morrowind back in the day, but haven’t really played any of the others. But Starfield is a sci-fi game and that’s right up my alley. Everything I’ve seen so far just makes me pretty hyped for the game.

[–] Oth@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

I took some time off because I needed a break, not specifically for Starfield, but it definitely works in my favor and it'll probably what I'm going to be spending a large chunk of time on.

No time off since we own our business, but I generally work from home, so time will definitely be "allocated" appropriately. 😁

Bethesda has supplied some of my longest gaming times, so I suspect this one will join that list. Skyrim and Fallout 4 are both in my top 10 games by total play time.

[–] misterfrumble@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

You betcha! Need a break from work and a long weekend to play Starfield (at least while the kids are at school/asleep/otherwise occupied) comes at a great time.

Came here for the positivity. I'll pretend all the negative nancies who will complain about ANYTHING Bethesda does no matter what are just shouting into the void.

[–] Trollivier@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Haven't booked any, but I'll make some time!

[–] murk02@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I took time off starting the 6th before I saw you could get early access. But at least we have Labor Day off so long weekend playing then just gotta work the 5th.
