/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I mean, Im sure at least one fan over the last 60 years have built a model and not gotten it to scale...

Like, it's actually kind of of difficult to make a model to scale, especially for a small onenits not all going to be proportional. So even if you were drawing the line at "commercially sold" I'm sure some don't meet the requirement to be within scale.

I get Shatner meant there's no "life size" model, but if someone's gonna be pedantic, it's an excuse to be pedantic back.

@givesomefucks @cosmicrookie William Shatner always struck me as someone incredibly hostile to the fanbase which made him famous and the people who are the only reason anyone gives a damn about him anyway.

Every interview I have ever read or seen video of is just him belittling people and their fandom.

That's because that's what he is. He's kind of a crappy person. Nimoy refused to speak to him the last few years he was alive because Shatner paid someone to ~~ask Nimoy questions~~ secretly record Nimoy at a convention after Nimoy turned Shatner down. This was confirmed in the book Shatner wrote about his friendship with Nimoy after he died where Shatner said "It was such a small thing Leonard". Takei has talked endlessly about how Shatner was a prick to work with on stage too.

Shatner is a shitty person

Edit: I goofed

What questions did shatner pay to have asked?

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Totally on me. I misremembered and just checked. He only had the cameraman record footage, not ask questions.

[–] Organichedgehog@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Oh I wasnt asking some sorta "gotcha" question, I just haven't heard anything about this. Why was he recording nimoy?

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Thas cweepy.

Bowser and Blue: Use Shatner in a sentence. - William Shatner purse

[–] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Because William Shatner.

[–] Lemming6969@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

There's always a scale, even if you have to Fourier transform it

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 46 points 10 months ago

He's lying! It's real and it's out there!

[–] radiant_bloom@lemm.ee 31 points 10 months ago (1 children)

But 1:1 is technically a scale !

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 8 points 10 months ago

There even is a saying something is 'to scale' meaning it's dimensioned as original (1:1).

[–] akilou@sh.itjust.works 27 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's not the question, he's asking if you have one

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Shatner is just a full on boomer. These are the sorts of answers you can expect from him.

[–] LaVacaMariposa@mander.xyz 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Isn't he like 95? I think he's from the generation before boomers.

BTW, I saw an interview with him recently and he's sharper than most people half his age. It's incredible

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 18 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Why wound you ever need a 2:1 scale Enterprise?

Tho the regular crew would look adorable in it.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 12 points 10 months ago

"The Enterprise!"

"The Enterprise!"

"The Enterprise!"

"Bah, it's only a model..."

"Shut up!"

[–] anarchrist@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 10 months ago

Well then what's it modeling, huh, Bill?

[–] NeptuneOrbit@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

I could make a toy with the wrong dimensions. That might really screw up this guys very serious engineering endeavor.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

Just answer the question, Captain.
