So, a friend of mine and I just went two for two on frustrating experiences:

SP Interception is just frustrating for the two of us. We struggle to clear all the gits from the capture points between their high health and constantly streaming in. In general we can each take and hold a point then potentially hold a third long enough to gain the lead. However, the Acolyte then spawns in and annoys us long enough to lose the lead, mostly through trolling with their abilities.

I have a Kuva Lich and my friend has a Sister of Parvos as our On Call Crewmen but neither of us have put any work into optimizing them, they're both just more-or-less the first thing we spared rather than killed. I also summon Kahl and his support units while my friend calls Ancient Healers (they prefer a different Air Support).

I know my Lich isn't optimal, it uses one of the less impressive Kuva variant guns, the Quartakk, and only has one power that's noticeably helpful: their version of Hollowed Ground. Their SoP Crewman is similarly unimpressive but I don't recall the specifics. Both of us need better help. So, what should we be looking for in terms of the best support for SP missions?

Liches/Sisters are really bad on call crew as they use unmodded weapons. For ideal on call crew, (from most to least important) you want:

  • Maxed out repair (This effects health regen)
  • Combat (Multiplies weapon damage)
  • Endurance (Increases health/sheilds but not enough to be worth it over the previous two)
  • If possible you want an elite crew member with the endurance specialty that makes them give everyone (including defense objects) massive health regen every time they kill something.

Crew members should be armed with something like tenet arca plasmor, acceltra or similar AOE weapons. Ideally without galvanized mods as they can't make use of them, nor can they use alternate fire modes.

Thanks! I'll start looking for a good crewman and give them a devastating weapon. Do they have to worry 'bout ammo or is the Bramma a decent choice for them?

[–] Keekles@dormi.zone 1 points 7 months ago

I'm pretty sure they have no ammo worries, my Kuva Zarr equipped crew member happily spams it until they despawn.

If you're trying to duo SP interception, make sure your builds are on point. With two people I'd recommend one Slow Nova and one crazy map nuker, Saryn for example. These builds will require investment.

Go buy proper crewmen from Fortuna. Their stats don't matter a ton but anyone with the maxed combat stat is fine. Put proper, maxed primary weapons in their load out. Again, those weapons should be fully invested into.

Steel Path Interception is one of the hardest mission types without a full squad. You'll need builds and weapons approaching "end game" status to do it.

Hm, hadn't thought about that. I guess a fully set up mod config would outdo any powers a converted Nemesis could have. Is the Kuva Bramma a good base-weapon choice for the crewman or does it not matter much? Can the crewmen run out of ammo?

[–] Meltrax@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, almost all the Kuva weapons are good options, but honestly just any gun you have fully forma-d and properly modded.

[–] Halasham@dormi.zone 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Thank you. I'll convey this to my friend and we'll see if our crewmen can hold the third for us on Interceptions now.

[–] Meltrax@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

Honestly, what's more important is your frames. Crewmen are not alive long enough to hold a point for an entire interception.

I just played a mission on SP, I misclicked my on-call Red Veil guy (I wanted to use a Simaris trap). I just witnessed him murder an acolyte that popped in. He just killed it in cold blood in the span of like 10 seconds while laughing maniacally. I had no idea he could do that. Get yourself a Red Veil dude, and give him an Astilla Prime. I'm still shook!

I haven't ever used the "On Call" feature as I've never had use for it.

Am I supposed to be able to customize my Lich and summon him into a mission at will?

[–] Halasham@dormi.zone 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Liches aren't very customizable. They have a set of powers and will use their powers and the Kuva weapon they spawned with. Unfortunately it's unmodded. Normal on-call crewmen can be customized with cosmetics and you can give them any of the weapons in your arsenal, fully modded.

[–] Faydaikin@beehaw.org 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That... doesn't sound particularly useful to be honest.

Unless I grind up a Lich that I made sure had the powers and weapon I want for them before befriending them, ofcause.

[–] Halasham@dormi.zone 1 points 6 months ago

Yeah, I've been using the Lich not really thinking about it for years but other commenters have been explaining that getting a Crewman or Elite Crewman from Fortuna, with or without good stats, and giving them a good and well-modded gun would outdo the Lich.

They are also summonable as On Call Crewmen so it's looking like Nemeses as On Call Crew are all flash and little substance, at least at higher levels.

[–] Dystopia@dormi.zone 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I like to mod my On Call's weapon with some form of status CC. They're normally pretty strong on their own but it can still help with slowing down enemies. Normally it would be something like Radiation + Cold so enemies will target each other instead of trying to take an objective in Interception and Cold is the only CC status effect that works through Overguard.

[–] Halasham@dormi.zone 2 points 6 months ago

Smart move!

I like to use Gyre for tough missions so Shock procs CC everything for me. I'm going to have to put some effort into my new Elite Crewman, ATM they're using my Kuva Ogris which is set up for Arbitration. Considering giving them my Tenet Cycron so they can spread Viral+Radiation

Or I'll just farm a Tenet Arca Plasmor and kit it out for them.
