I have no horse in this race but I can't stand having someone insulting or disrespect someone for their sexuality or lack thereof, appearence or outlook on life in the same way I can't stand having self appointed activists hurling jargon as an insult or a form of demeaning towards people that don't include themselves in the LGBTQIA+.
Maybe its because I grew up in a country where the constitution states, very clearly, that no one can be discriminated, enjoy special benefit or privilege based on their ascendency, race, sex, creed, language, country of origin, political or ideological convictions, degree of instruction, economic status, social condition or sexual orientation (my translation).
Nobody is entitled to anything a priori and everyone is equal.
And this is somewhat universally respected and upheld, regardless the sudden surge of populist right wingers trying to appeal in the opposite direction.
Anyone can express their position, freely. As long as they do not express ill intent another person or group.
Want to have a pride parade? Sure.
Want to have a pro-conservative values parade? Sure.
Just mind your mouth. And no, neo nazis, fascists or hate groups don't get a pass.
Battles against discrimination are fought everyday by just living our life and allow others to live their as they see fit. This is not being neutral, this just not wanting to take part in violence and being peaceful. Don't view it as being passive.
