Bruce Lehrmann raped Brittany Higgins, judge finds.

I'm shocked, I tell you!

Extra bonus comment: "Having escaped the lion's den, Mr Lehrmann made the mistake of coming back for his hat."
Such a great way to put it. That criminal trial was not going his way. When he escaped with a mistrial, he really should have faded into obscurity. But noooooooooo, he willingly went back for more. Idiot.

To think, 5 years ago, he harbored the idea of going into politics.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 9 points 1 year ago

so now can we drag 7 over the coals for buying this fucker hookers and blow?

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Good. (The validation of the finding, not that it happened.) They put her through so much shit.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Been looking at this today. Sadly even though the judge has come to that judgement it can't incur any criminal penalties according to the ABC.

""I hasten to stress this is a finding on the balance of probabilities."

Mr Lehrmann faced a criminal trial in the ACT Supreme Court in 2022, which collapsed without a verdict due to juror misconduct.

This trial is a civil defamation trial where the burden of proof is less and does not lead to any criminal punishment."

Despite that it's a good ruling.

He’s so full of himself, it’s amazing his head can squeeze through the courtroom doors. But I guess that’s what makes a personality for politics, probably would have risen to the top in no time. Hopefully he finally fades away never to be seen again.

Thought youse might like a little laugh. This is my iron. It's about 25 years old. It still looks brand new. It's like a kid's toy. It's the size of a tissue box. My mum bought it when I moved out of home. Her words were "You may need it one day". Today is that day.

On Saturday morning we woke up to the news my FIL had a mini stroke the night before. My husband got a pretty nasty text from his sister which he was about to retaliate to until I reminded him that she just buried her FIL three days ago. Then we have stabbings and shit going on overseas, protests here and I still had to hem pants for my daughter for school tomorrow. Although nothing really directly affected me I'm like "enough already". Hence the reason Comfortably Numb popped into my head last night.

Update: Just got good news that my FIL is being discharged from hospital in the next couple of hours.

Oh shit, hope your father in law is ok.

Yep, daylight savings is rough enough with the news and illnesses or whatever. Bit over it all myself tbh.

Controversial opinion, but I think the tv coverage of the Bondi incident has been too saturated. The exact same images and story over and over again without anything new to report. Yes, it’s a terrible tragedy. But wow the media latches on and just won’t let go until it’s absolutely drained every last drop of blood out of it.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

did you see the footage broadcast live on Saturday arvo? I thought the presenter was about to pop a boner from the excitement of having a story. It was disgusting.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Or something "more interesting" comes up. It's fucked.

It's been a helluva day after a busy week - 4 loads of laundry, wrangling more car inspection logistics, dealing with more family drama, figuring out work things...

Luckily I was granted my first wfh day tomorrow so I don't need to worry about getting to work and organising lunch on top of it all. Slotted in a car inspection that feels very promising. Please cross your fingers for me that this is the one, it ticks all the boxes. I really need something before next week...

I haven't told anyone in my life (outside of work) that I have a small medical procedure today. I haven't told my parents because I don't want them to unnecessarily stress out and they're enjoying a holiday in Spain. It's an annoying cyst that needs draining. Hope it goes well.

I now need to fast until surgery 😩 ate 2 ✨_kwossants_ ✨ and a protein shake. Might get some orange juice later as I can have clear liquids until 2 hours before.

Kid is doing a lot better, but still woke up screaming bloody murder at 4am. This was after it took nearly 3.5 hours to get him down in the first place. My stomach feels a bit "meh" so i decided to forgo the coffee. Struggle street is real today.

Inspection on Thursday, so I have many chores to do before then.

My apartment is the physical manifestation of depression and untreated ADHD. I've written a list for each room and general cleaning, and will start from the back and move to the front.

Pray for me.

Edit: my big fat heavy Dyson vacuum has cracked. Wtfβ€½

I changed my Seek settings, so now I can get an email whenever someone opens my resume, and I'll get one if my application is unlikely to proceed.

Makes life easier

Freakin love the home affairs youtube ad talking about setting up Multifactor auth. I mean, Bro I'm in talks right now with Microsoft regarding best practices of conditional access MFA and the depreciation of per user MFA policies, so you might've wasted the budget on me. But its good to see someone OTHER than the banks starting to push this shit. We've gotta get past this "I'm old. I dont GET computers" attitudes, cause if that's your take you better get off the internet and go back to a pen and paper as you're doing exactly what attackers want you to do: Bury your head in the sand under the guise of "its all too hard".

It's so nice out, I feel guilty for sitting at my desk. Lunchtime walk in the sunshine is on the cards methinks.

Bathroom and kitchen sinks cleaned, toilet done. Vacc'd the study and hallway. Wiped windows, benches, fridge and walls.

Tomorrow I will tackle the bedroom and living rooms and hopefully my LL won't realise I'm an actual piece of shit.

Also, can anyone confirm that lack of airflow causes mold? I found some on the fridge and windows and wonder if my lack of flyscreen is to blame? (As in I am hesitant to open doors/windows due to bugs because I don't have flyscreen at all). Weighing up whether it is worth grabbing those temp ones from Bunnings or not...

It's probably condensation from cooking. If you have a kitchen door to the outside keep it open a little during cooking and always use your range hood if you have one.

Sleepy kitty

Also, just spoke to my cousin. I have a big family overseas but we don't have anything to do with each other. For decades.

I reached out and made contact. It was nice. "My family". Feels weird to type it out.

There is a random black cat wandering around my back yard and is currently sitting on top of my shed. I had a brief moment of fear until I confirmed Miss Meow is still safely curled up in her basket snoozing.

I just wanted to remind people if anyone is struggling due to the craziness of the last couple of days speak up.

Anyone working from home today because of the protests?

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

I wanted to but had to head in. I think we are a bit away from it so hopefully will be fine and all over before evening trains ... Hope they can protest and it's peaceful enough. Its all been a bit crap out there lately.

Carpet moths and nests have been sprayed with cleaning solution (because bug spray is exxy and unsafe for the cat, this cleaning solution is meant to be safe though) and they seem to be carking it. I hate myself for not realising sooner - depression is a hell of an illness πŸ˜“

Edit: also located small handheld vacc so I can clean the exhaust fans in the bathroom.

I can see why people hire cleaners.

If I go into the office today it will be just me ... But I have pakidge due to be delivered there tomorrow. Should I WFH and risk it being early? It is currently at melb airport so I reckon it has one more stop before the truck.

Gah. Comfy WFH but... pakidge

Hmmm. On the tram. Lady on aisle seat sitting with crossed legs. Person 1 went across awkwardly. Person 2 just walks through, sorta like kicking her leg and then turns back to her with an annoyed face. Lady has now crossed legs again. Fascinating stuff really.

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's a classic tactic: sit at the aisle and look like a hassle to sit near. Maybe put a bag next to you. When there are free seats, this even works - people will subconsciously just go sit somewhere easier. But there comes a point where that is the only seat and someone will sit there.

how is it you can not hear a song for a decade and yet still remember every note and word https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gibSb1_GGw

I have to hem some pants. I thought I had grey cotton but no. I have every other colour though. Black will have to do.
