Ended up sleeping 12 hours last night. Guess the new gym program is working!

I started feeling worse after a nap yesterday afternoon. It was one of those naps where upon waking I could swear I'd been punched in the face and been run over by one of those wannabe F1 drivers they always seem to hire for replacement buses

I ran out of soothers, not that they were doing very much anyways. But I did find an orange in my fridge, so I had that. Also remembered I have no sugar cordial I keep on hand for when I'm sick (when I have a cold, I always really struggle with water intake despite usually drinking lots)

Also I bought a game called chef in the steam sale and hopped on at 10 thinking I would play an hour then go to bed, but it's now 2 and it appears I may still be awake

Don’t know if anyone was watching the news but a cargo ship in Baltimore collided with a bridge and took the whole thing down.

It sounds horrific.

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Fucking hell that's so bad... How could someone not realise they were about to hit a fucking bridge?!?!

"Man's Attempt to go to bed early foiled by cat chasing random bug in bedroom. When asked why he didn't remove the cat he was quoted as saying: she'll just bang on the door all night" More news at 11.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago

Cat chasing bug is excellent. My cats won't, they just lazily look at bugs while I tell them to do their job of protecting the house from said bugs.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

have the house to myself today

can relax and be me for a while

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I have more mental energy to look after myself better. I eat better, sleep better, dress better, do more, everything is better.

When you are the moon, the best form you can be is a full moon. And then the half moon... he's all right. But the full moon is the famous moon. And then three-quarters, eh, no one gives a shit about him. When does he come, two days in, to the calendar month? He's useless. Full moon. The moon. The main moon.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (2 children)

When you are the moon, there is a person people say is the sun. I saw the sun once, and he came past me, really fast. And it was an, it was called, the, an eclipse. And he came fast! But as he came past, I, I licked his back. [sticks out tongue] And he doesn't know I licked his back! All in his yellow suit!... I'm the moon.

Finally the apartment has cooled down to a more reasonable 24Β°C. So the cats have started their zoomies.

They have been lethargic and not doing zoomies in the last 3 weeks as the apartment was constantly 31-35Β°C.

It's dashcam installation day! Then I just need to witness something worth submitting to YouTube while singing in the car, get discovered by a talent agent from that exposure and then I'll be a ⭐ STAR ⭐

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Just remember not to be one of those yuppy rich people who mute the audio if you swear. I don't come to hear "FU-". The more you call the driver in front inanimate objects, the funnier you'll be!

Wow, my dress alteration costs more than my dress.

I better look like a million bucks when I wear it. πŸ˜‚

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I get op shop suits for about $50 then tailor them for another $250.

[–] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

I get it. A well-fitted suit looks so good. You can totally tell the difference.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (3 children)

I had a floor length full circle skirted dress taken up once and just that cost almost as much as the dress. Proper alterations so a dress (or any other sort of clothing) fits properly are well worth it.

I just dropped my cat at the cattery for the very first time. I feel like an absolute monster, abandoning my little baby. I know it's for his own good- I'm going away for 10 days and last time I was away that long he struggled with a friend visiting daily.

But still. And the house feels very empty.

Talkin' cats. The boyz here tell me they are starving, STARVING!!

The poop tray tells otherwise and poop don't lie.

Felt like and sounded like a total zombie at work today from lack of sleep πŸ’€ it is going at breakneck speed, normally a good challenge but the NEET cobwebs are hard to shake off. About to hit the melatonin and hope tomorrow brings more clear-mindedness.

In good news, I have a serious lead elsewhere on other work for the other days... that is more aligned to my medium term goals and requirements than the other options available to me now. Let's see what we can work out so both sides are happy and I don't burn out this time. While also starting to refill my coffers 🀞

The bloody postie just delivered a package for next door to my place. It's just me home, I don't know this neighbour, and I can't go 2 minutes without sputtering like a truck engine from the 1930s

Ironically his parcel says "SIGNATURE ON DELIVERY REQUIRED - DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED" but that's exactly what he did

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's ok Baku. When the neighbour has come home, pick up the package, knock on the neighbour's door and say "the postie left this at my door. I believe it belongs to you". Hand the package over, turn and walk away. It's good practice. No need for a conversation.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago

I think he's out at the moment, so I just walked over and left it at his door. It's a safe neighbourhood, so there's not really any risk of porch pirates. I did take a photo and left feedback on the Auspost website though

I did also have a package coming today that was due at the same time, and after checking the tracking apparently meant to be delivered by the same bloke, but it hasn't arrived yet and wasn't at the neighbours door (I thought perhaps he mixed up the parcels), so now I'm wondering what the hell's happened to it

(accidentally posted in yesterday's thread)

Fuuuuck. I have repeatedly overexerted myself for days in a row (once is bad enough) and my body is screaming. I crashed and slept for hours, was late with supper. But Melbcat did get seen no matter what.

Cat ramblesThey aren’t finding any infection in her bladder or ears anymore! No explanation for the vomiting so I’ll make sure it couldn’t be a hygiene or freshness issue - however the day before yesterday I overheard at emergency that another cat had vomited 6 times, and yesterday I overheard someone trying to book in because their cat was vomiting. It could be coincidence but perhaps I should watch for any recalls on the Smitten cat food. I had thrown out that tin just in case and she seems ok on a new tin of the same kind but still…

Edit: Maybe? https://www.apog.com.au/recall-issue-log/smitten-woolworths/ I just did a bulk order 😭

Her ears are still itchy so I’ll continue the drops for a few days and then use the ear wash very regularly, treating with Nexgard when it arrives. I’m not seeing any adult fleas but wish I’d got some Capstar too. I’m still working on decluttering/storage Tetris so I can vacuum more easily, and slowly working my way through laundering all the cloth in the house. (This plus trying to maintain the other chores is breaking my balls.)

I also did return yesterday morning looking for that sick orange cat. Didn’t see him. I wish I’d had the physical reserves to drop Melbcat home and go back for him immediately. The council says they don’t take cats unless they’re already contained so I’ll have to trap him myself.

So I’m now facing the prospect of actively stalking the ginger ninja when I am able to and trying to trick him into the carrier without being bitten or scratched (massive infection risk). Then wheeling him on foot to emergency and scrubbing the plastic carrier down with hot soapy water and/or bleach afterwards. Because I don’t have F10 veterinary disinfectant. Assuming I can run into him by chance again. He would have to be wheeled down there right away too because I can’t let him stay with my own cat.

[–] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Warms my heart to read about you trying to help ginger ninja. Also as soon as you order bulk cat food, something will be wrong (recall, expiry, cat food refusal ). Every time…..

Found myself being more conscious of what I was listening to in the car now that I have a dashcam. That's probably normal for the first few days of ever having a dashcam I expect.

At the same time, if I end up submitting a video to DCOA and I'm belting out A Whole New World I won't be ashamed.

Mrs B's cat has ditched her, and realized if she stakes a claim around the left hand site of my feet I'll do my best to honor the space even though I toss and turn enough to power a perpetual motion machine. I don't LOVE it, but I'm honored.

Went over to p's place for dins turns out they had a lawyer over for estate planning...

I thought it was just a cashew chicken thing.. Then you run into a high powered lawyer so there I am thinking okay. She was lovely but I didn't know and I could've worn a better shirt.

Stupid coffee >:( I've had almost zero sleep tonight. Ironically I'll probablybneed another one to stay awake today but I'll have to hit the melatonin at 7pm to catch up.
