This humidity is killing me and can fuck right off!

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Agreed. I thought it was just me. I feel bad saying this, but I'm glad it's not.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago

not just you, the clouds have made it oppressive

I'm putting a bunch of stuff on a stick and burning it then going for a swim.

This is the most profound thing I'm doing today.

Starting my new job tomorrow!

But they still haven’t informed me of when exactly I’m meant to start my shit. Will have to call in and chase that up after lunch me thinks.

Oh and I started my own community for anyone interested, learning about, or working in early childhood.

Back from my first day and oh my god I'm SO tired making an 8am start. Despite hitting the snooze button several times and leaving considerably later than I thought. And everyone else starts at 7 πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« with plenty of people having longer commutes than me. I'll get used to it.

I was a bit too out of it today take in everything with it all happening so fast, but it was a good first day. Being at a depot does mean it's still very testosterone heavy but not my immediate manager which makes a huge difference. My team is really friendly and welcoming and open with each other which is awesome.

I am super glad this is just part time though, I so wouldn't have the energy for full time hours in such a high contact role. And I'd feel suffocated for sure, no matter how good the workplace was

E: also, hectic wind and humidity out there but... where's the rain??? 😭 I think that's adding to the lethargy

Adelaide tomorrow! Exciting, but it involves planes 🫀

Why is my neighbor out using his leaf blower on a day like this? He's losing the fight.

Glad I watered all the plants last night. Got 40 seconds of rain today.

Which means ongoing watering, so back to the watering routine

Its bin day in my estate and not a single one is left standing. Fortunately they were already emptied.

[–] neurospice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 8 months ago

Absolutely no rain here...

Starting to lose hope in it

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

tandoori chicken in oven, rice with almonds and sultanas in the cooker. It smells good. :)

Interesting. I went into my bathroom and smelt smoke, so I opened up the front door and there's quite a smokey smell. Nothing on VicEmergency, and I'm not sure who's got a fire on at the end of a 30Β° day while it's still in the 20s

Edit: well I got paranoid so I went for a walk and made sure nothing's on fire. Am I just smelling the bushfire out near Beaufort? I actually didn't know that was still going tbh, but I haven't actually smelt it before

I saw someone mention somewhere that there was a bunch of planned burns going on

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago

I swear this like the 3rd or 4th year in a row when planned burns occur on the windiest day imaginable. I know that these are scheduled some time in advance, but surely there is some contingency.

I was smelling it a night or two ago and heard sirens so maybe something happened

[–] neurospice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 8 months ago

Yeh I woke up at 3am and had to close all my windows because of it. Checking now, my particulate matter sensor went crazy then

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago

Post art on different platform, nobody's really that interested. Plus it'd just get scraped by AI. :(

(I know I should be making it for myself but when you're depressed and everything's difficult it's nice to get a little extra motivation or a bit of a boost from others' enjoyment.)

The garage has been carpet bombed with mouse traps.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Is your dog a mouse hunter? Mine is not, she makes friends with them and even shares her food. When I explain the purpose of the JRT breed to her she wags her tail and gives me a head tilt.

What are the best hot cross buns that money can buy? I'm enjoying this brioche choc chip variety from Woolies but thinking there must be better.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Probably Bakers Delight because they're baked fresh that morning.

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I second these. And third.. and fourth and fifth. And I’d really better stop because my pants are getting tight

A few days ago, I made a sandwich out of hot cross bun and rotisserie chicken.

So tonight I ran into 'Abbey', a randomly lost presumably senile border collie on the dog beach path. I went for a swim and it was still there on the way back devoid of an owner.

She was happily reunited with her human thanks to a lovely lady who had her phone with her called the number on the tag.

There are good people out there.

How hard is it to hook up an RSS feed to Lemmy? I was thinking we could do with the deal feed from Ozbargin on here

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I don't know, but if you figure it out, I'd be interested in seeing if I could get a product recall one setup

Just finished listening to World war Z audio book, really enjoyed it. It’s nothing like the movie. Each chapter is told as an interview with someone who survived the zombie war and what part they played in it. Different voice actors throughout really added to it.

should probably take the bins soon

Why do companies always go too-fancy when catering for corporate things? I'm not impressed by your ridiculous food which I'd never order.

Us worker drones can sometimes get the high-class leftovers at least...
