Trump wasn't "arrested" in the way Navalny was - i.e. poisoned and tossed in a cell to die. Trump is getting trials, and frankly getting a lot more leeway during those trials than the average citizen would. To date every court is erring on the side of leniency when dealing with his behavior. Punishments are only given after he is found guilty of things he actually did, and they are within the previously established guidelines.

The nation is not going to apologize to the MAGA crowd for demanding their cult leader not commit crimes like fraud, sexual assault, and trying to dodge US democracy with an insurrection.

the fact that there is still sensitive, secret, compartmentalized material KNOWN TO BE MISSING, AND CONTINUES TO BE MISSING, yet this orange fuckwit walks free should tell you everything you need to know about the US's justice system.

I remember the shit show in a training facility when someone absentmindedly walked from one room to another with a classified document. It never left his hand, but it was not supposed to leave whatever room it was in.

My dad almost had his security clearance revoked once because he missed a credit card payment and "debt can be used as leverage". He was a bosun mate, calm down. Nobody is leveraging $50 worth of payments and late fees on a Petty Officer , even during the cold war.

But sure, this man can ~~sell classified documents to foreign countries~~ "lose classified documents", quite a few, in fact, and so far face no consequences, years on.

They are, for real and entirely with their whole souls, convinced that Trump did nothing wrong, Biden's a crook who stole the election who's going after him in a dangerous and undemocratic move almost akin to Putin's, etc etc.

The people at the top, who are producing the extremely convincing propaganda which they consume, are guilty as sin and for-real should be in prison for it. But a lot -- the majority, I think -- of the people who buy into the propaganda, for as genuinely fucking dangerous as they are, aren't actually doing anything wrong. (Aside from not being sharp enough to see that they're getting suckered.)

Famously, Navalny spent years on bail pending trial while the prosecution moved painfully slowly to avoid procedural errors, and he was tried in a juried public court, and even when he was convicted he was able to appeal the case to judges who he'd personally appointed in his time as president.
