That's probably so it's easier to see them instead of being hidden on the outside edge of your foot I'm guessing?

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Why not in the center of the socks then?

[–] Fermion@feddit.nl 33 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Because the way you probably raise your foot toward you when putting on your socks ends up with that spot pointing toward your eyes.

As to how that helps before you've actually got the sock on, you'll have to ask the designer.

This guy socks.

[–] fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.world 19 points 8 months ago

So they’re right next to each other when you’re looking at them.

[–] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

I'm not entirely sure. I've never had socks that were labeled left and right like that so this is all just my best guess. Maybe they were trying to keep it discreet?

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 42 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I dare you to get milder than this.

[–] transporteraccident1@lemm.ee 4 points 8 months ago

Savage self-burn. Bravo

[–] Korne127@lemmy.world 22 points 8 months ago

What's infuriating about that?

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 20 points 8 months ago

Honestly it would be more mildly infuriating if they both weren't on the inside of the foot so I'd say you're good.

[–] gregorum@lemm.ee 12 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

So you can see it when you cross your leg to put on your shoe. Then it would be facing up as you look down.

[–] Tier1BuildABear@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

But the socks are already on your feet at that point? Unless you sometimes forget which foot is which lol

[–] raynethackery@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

Are you sure your feet are on correctly?

[–] JeffreyOrange@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

Seems like a good design though?

[–] neidu2@feddit.nl 10 points 8 months ago

It's more symmetrical that way

[–] gofsckyourself@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

They're actually in love with each other and those are tattoos of the other to show their love.

[–] Mellow12@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

Exactly the kind of thing I would expect to mildly infuriate someone who wears socks labeled right and left.

[–] londos@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago
[–] lazylion_ca@lemmy.ca 6 points 8 months ago

At least they are in alphabetical order.

[–] qwrty@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (4 children)

Ok, but why do they even need side indicators? I thought socks could go on either foot.

[–] Lith@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I also have socks with side indicators. They're designed to fit the feet, so the entire socks are asymmetrical. Theoretically you could go by the pattern, but when you're pulling socks out of a hamper it's a lot easier to match them via letters which you know are always at the ends. It's pretty convenient and makes it impossible to match them incorrectly, so I think it's a good design choice.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.de 1 points 8 months ago

the entire socks are asymmetrical

They are not. they are just mirror symmetrical

[–] OfficerBribe@lemm.ee 5 points 8 months ago

I have 1 pair with similar indicators. The end of socks is not symmetrical, they are in a shape of foot to get a perfect fit and if you wear them the other way around they are not as comfortable. Good pair, I like them.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

With these socks the big toe area is longer than the pinky toe area. That, I’ve worn them backwards and haven’t noticed.

Not something I intended to buy when I bought socks online, but it was how they came.

[–] zerosignal@lemmy.world 0 points 8 months ago

The fact that you have worn them on the wrong foot and not noticed is the real mildly infuriating part.

[–] MrsDoyle@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

There's something written on the toes, maybe it's a story!

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

You’re wearing them on the wrong feet.

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

This is so other people are less likely to see that you have L and R for your socks. Yes, I know these are probably inside your shoe, but some people wear socks and sandals.

[–] MeatsOfRage@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago (3 children)

These Balegas? I've got something similar on mine

[–] wcSyndrome@lemm.ee 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Bombas judging by the hexagons

[–] HEXN3T@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 8 months ago

Favourite socks ever made

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 1 points 8 months ago
[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

They look like it

Edit: no it is something that that's with bo

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

They’re just trying to disprove my assertion that it’s always the left sock that goes missing.

Relax, it’s just big sock doing big sock things.

[–] OfficerBribe@lemm.ee 0 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Have you tried using letters to differentiate them? I have 1 pair with similar indicators and they are on the same place.
