I moved my Sim into a house boat so he could escape his several illegitimate children but the lag got so bad living at sea I stopped playing.

My wife confirms this is true. I am the same with 4x games.

It was during a big winter storm last year. All my friends were hanging out at my friend's place, and we spent way too long recreating everyone perfectly, then recreating the house we were all in, and then training all of our sims in the skills we were all good at in real life. And I think by that point we about hit the 52 hour mark lol

Spring of 2015. Redesigned my sims' mansion to be so gorgeous and intricate that by the time I was done perfecting it, the sheer size of the lot and the amount of moving parts in it made the entire file unplayable.

I swore I would keep the thing around until I had a better computer, because I loved it so much and I was doing a legacy family I'd gotten really attached to. Now, 9 years later, I have a better computer. The graphics are too dated to be fun.

Last time I played I was collecting... Some kind of little statues? I honestly can't remember what they were but I was having fun making a shelf of them. They were something you found out in the world...

The gnomes?

The gnomes that would /occasionally/ move randomly about your property when your view did not encompass their position, and your sim was neurotic enough?

Yep thats it.

I was planning to breed a Sim who has all of the inheritable traits in Sims 4 but only got as far as one generation of spellcasters before I got distracted. I was determined to play out everyone's life at normal speed, which was definitely more engaging than using birthday cakes to force age the kids into adulthood but also would have made it take forever.

I made JC Denton as close as I could to his actual character and appearance.

He ended up being a ladies man despite my best attempts to get him to focus on his career.

EDIT:

I am reasonably sure you cant do this in the newer games... but in the original, I remember marrying as many partners as possible, sending them upstairs and then deleting the stairs.

They would all get into jealously related brawls until eventually the entire town had no more single ladies other than the one remaining highlander wife.

Also I am pretty sure in the original, when the grim reaper appears, you can enclose him in walls and then never load that particular house again.

Grim is for some reason a singular entity world npc in the whole game. If he's stuck... no one ever dies again.

My game is actually open now, but I've not touched it for a couple of days lol I've got a build that's getting tricky and I need to actually use my brain to figure it out, but I don't have the focus to right now. It's out in the wasteland in Oasis Landing.

This is a detour in my main game though, one of several attempts I've made on and off in the last few years to collect all of the skill and job awards, and other collectibles (including live animals, and all the gem cuts including skulls and spire and the geode one), potentially school and pet awards too. So I went to the future to get my skill higher faster for the astronomy career and also to see if any of the posters I'm collecting might be exclusive to one future outcome or the other (they don't seem to be, I have collected all but one!).

I dropped all my previous attempts because of lag, but then I was playing isla paradiso for the collectibles you can only get there (underwater fish, island maps, shells) but then I discovered nraas traveller which means I can visit the island like I would Egypt or France, so I'm testing out other home worlds to see if they carry my collection better lol

My go-to strategy is to find the richest family in the neighborhood, then power-level my relationship with one of them and get them to divorce their current partner and marry me. So I get a super-nice house for basically free.

One of my sims 3 characters did this as their only source of income. Kick the existing family out divorce and sell the house. Rinse repeat as funds were needed

I got hooked in 2002, then one day at work saw 2 people hug each other and thought I was in the game for a minute. I quit right after that.
