I recently went for a period of about 1.5 months in which I was eating very little due to some psych trauma work I was doing and a lifelong history of ARFID. I eventually started to get symptoms of malnourment and decided to get it under control. On the first day, I had a smoothie, a multivitamin, and an iron supplement. Sometime about 1-3 hours after that, I started to get weird chills like when peeing after holding it in for a while, but also wanting to stretch. Then, I just started feeling FANTASTIC. Not good as in I was miserable and now I'm fine. I'm talking about better than the peak of the best orgasm I've ever had. This lasted for about 20-30 mins. I was just rubbing my skin and stretching my muscles, which would activate it even more. I had never experienced that, nor had I ever heard anyone share that they've experienced something similar.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Also, what the heck was that??

Yeah, it's called "not starving anymore".

Sounds like MDMA, your reward system went wild

Yeah, that's been my guess so far. My reward system hit max power.

were you hit with a lower mood afterwards?

[–] BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

It came in waves, but I usually get hit with a lower mood right after eating. That rest and digest hits me hard. I get stupid, lazy, a little confused and disoriented.

I got this during COVID after I started taking supplements (needed iron, vitamin d, b12), and biking. The second day when the nutrients took effect and I biked for a while, I ate some whole grains and took a poop any everything was wonderful. I stretched, slept well, everything. Take care of your body and it takes care of you (how it should be anyway, bodies may vary).

I got a similar feeling when I started taking the supplements my body needed: Iron, magnesium, selenium. I thought: wow! Is this how normal people feel on a day to day basis? It made such a difference in my mood too.

That's how I felt getting on regular iron supplements. This is how normal people feel all the time!? This is amazing!

I get this feeling after a nice poop sometimes.

I think its just your body telling you that you did good/it now has the supplies it needs to do its job. It probably has to do with relative reactance to stimulus. If you go a long time without any of a specific stimulus, you're more likely to be highly sensitive to it. In this case it was your whole body becuase you gave it what it needs.

I’ve gotten a milder version of this when doing a very intense physical job day after day and then eating a huge dinner at the end and replenishing all nutrients. I called it “the belly orgasm.”

I’m just guessing / triangulating that what you experienced is further down the same road but to me it makes sense. The body in survival mode behaves very differently to the body in “everything on my end is all good, no real feedback, brain’s in charge currently” mode.

That's your body starting to eat itself. Get some food.

Are you sure you didn't take any drugs accidentally?

Anyway, considering you didn't take drugs, this is not normal. Consider consulting with a medic to investigate further.

100% certain I didn't take any drugs. I saw my doc this week after the event, and she said I'm fine. Thanks for looking out.
