crack a drink, sit down and really feel this moment. Appreciate it for what it is.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, baby Gibson on the day we met:

Very proud Dad moment: My kid's daycare has a little kiddy pool with colour ball pit balls in them. I've been so excited for him to be old enough to go in it. After 6-ish months proud to report he is. And he was DELIGHTED, the excitement on his face was unreal. So happy for him.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago

It’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to him

Slept in, yet somehow feel like I barely slept.

Adulthood is bullshit I used to sleep 6 hours a night and wake up feeling refreshed

I remember I used to go to bed after being extremely drunk/high and get up to go to work the next day with no issue.

Those days are loooong gone now.

It's now been 64 days since the Montague St bridge was fed. This is now way overdue. Just commenting.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago

Been sharing the treats with the Napier St Bridge lately - that got one last week

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago

Black cockies just swept through. She had her eye on me!

[–] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Power was out for 7 days - ausnet can’t even get their website working to put in a claim. Some people still have their power out, running a generator costs a fortune (despite having it off overnight)

Sleep? What is that?

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 8 months ago (4 children)

Its new NOTEBOOK day folks! Full of potential and wonder - will this be the journal that gets me organised? Will it be neat (no, it won't)? Will i actually use the index at the front ?

I don't know. But it's a pretty green.

Shit sleep. Shit mood.

Have an interview (on line) today, so hoping I can mask my negativity for 45 minutes

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

I have a meeting this arvo for one of those initiatives that is really busywork to make the higher-ups look good. Will be actively working on not rolling my eyes.

Good luck with your interview!

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago

Thanks friend!! I think it went okay, but some of the questions seemed like they were tailored to someone else. I may have been the 3rd or 4th candidate to make up numbers as they had a preferred one already. Still a good experience thought.

I'll happily roll my eyes here on your behalf. I'm involved in a fair few of such initiatives myself, and cringe is an understatement.

Just the weather to be waiting around for my every 10 min bus that has now been 4 times that late…

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago

Home. Crispy. Past me stocked the freezer well.

The grandparents are visiting and helping to mind the kids for the next two days. These little buggers are getting a bit too much to handle on their own

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago

Someone one the cptsd meme sub said this

It’s like β€œwhich layer of trauma are you talking about?” and then my whole life story comes apart like an onion

And I have never related to a sentence so hard

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I feel like lately it's been hotter than it ever got through the middle of summer. I don't like it. Feeling for the people who don't have power

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 8 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Sleeping when it’s hot is so uncomfortable, feel sorry for those without aircon. But I’m the opposite, I think we’ve actually had a fairly moderate Summer overall. I remember the drought years when it was normal to get a run of 35+ for a few days in a row, and at least several 40+ days through Jan and Feb. This year we have had none.

How I hate Melbourne housing. Genuinely debating chucking a sickie today from the lack of sleep

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

spicy roast chicken is in oven, will do some spicy taters too

[–] bull@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago (4 children)

I've just put a half rack of USA bbq pork ribs in the oven. In 2 hours it's going to be fall-off-the-bone succulent rib time!

Have ouchy finger. Tripped and fell a few days ago and took a large chunk of skin and nail off my middle finger (why is it always that finger?). I was crossing the road where I shouldn't have been and tripped over a stupid manhole thing in the middle of the road and I am an idiot πŸ˜”.

Uhhhh there's an uber eats looking bag at my door for some dude called david, nobody called david lives here (and as far as I can tell, never has). No receipt on the outside of the bag and it's stapled and taped shut. Does this count as mail? Am I going to jail if I open it? I don't even know how long it's been there, I didn't hear anybody come up the stairs

Edit: I decided to open it to see if there was a receipt or a restaurant name or something, it's literally a white paper bag that says "KEBAB" in a brown paper bag. No shop name, doesn't even say if it's uber eats or door dash or whatever.

[–] bull@aussie.zone 10 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Sounds like you got a visit from the free kebab fairy, you lucky duck

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago

Tomorrow visits the...

Harpic fairy.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Oo never been visited by the kebab fairy before! Although I'm not sure how much I trust a fairy to make a good kebab. It's a well known fact that the best kebabs come from a bloke covered head to toe in hair with a thick Lebanese accent who calls you friend at least twice per sentence and says he's doing you a good deal. of course, for this to be true he also needs to be working out of a very small food truck parked in front of the dodgiest servo in the dodgiest part of town

Is this the urban version of cow tipping? How does the cat react to this endeavour?

My next electricity bill is going to really hurt...

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago

I went for a walk at lunch. It's heating up out there. I've got in early and pulled a WFH for tomorrow - the city doesn't need one more sweaty grumpy person on public transport in high-thirties heat.
