They look like 8 year old me trying to draw a dog.

Alpaca are noble gentle animals fit to live in human company.

Llamas are stubborn violent assholes.

There's a place for both, but do not confuse the two unless you want a nastï bite.

Adorable.

That reminds me I live an hour away from a alpaca farm and I need to make a visit! It's a great time for the whole family or if you're stoned.

I take it's that's a non-exclusive "or".

They've been sheared recently.

Is this crescent moon ranch in Terrebonne oregon? I pass by there all the time but I've never stopped in.

It definitely is. You should check it out!

Imagine if you trained them to freeze

[–] spittingimage@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No need to train them.

I helped a friend dismantle a shed in a pasture with three alpacas on his hobby farm. When we looked in their direction, they froze like statues. When we focused on the boards, they would inch just a liiiiittle bit closer, and freeze when we looked again. There was an ungulate serial killer vibe happening.

Apparently they get quite irritable close to shearing time, because the wool droops down in front of their eyes and the stumble into each other.

Seriously?? That’s such a weird experience. I saw this photo and thought “It would be weird if this was a video and they were all frozen”.

I wonder what they look like without the poodle cut
