So we have had a problem with some neighborhood teens throwing trash and food at some of the houses in the area and this has spurred me to add some cameras.
Currently, I run Unifi controller on a Raspberry Pi dedicated to it. This works beautifully for me for now. I run 3 FlexHD APs from it, and that's all. I have other branded switchgear that offers POE and POE+. I also run a pfSense firewall which works great for me.
I am considering buying the following and am looking for feedback:
- Network Video Recorder Pro ( UNVR-Pro )
- G4 Doorbell Pro ( UVC-G4 Doorbell Pro-US )
- 2x G5 Pro Camera ( UVC-G5-Pro )
- 2x G5 Video Enhancer ( UACC-G5-Enhancer )
Would adding the network video recorder enable the full Protect functionality with my existing RPi Unifi controller? Or would I be forced to add some sort of hardware controller appliance as well?
On a less important note, my current switchgear is Mikrotik and has been rock solid for me for many years. If adding a Unifi switch was somehow needed, I would likely go with the USW-Pro-48-POE (the Pro 48 port) under the "buy once, cry once" approach. Though, I'm loath to give up my Mikrotik since it is just so damn good.
