One of the best parody songs ever.

It's my favorite of weird Al's, but this one is a close second: https://youtu.be/usPkL2EQPYo?si=Z_pAFK-N5RaaCIGo

Amish Paradise, Fat, and more contemporary Word Crimes are all pure genius. Many, many honorable mentions.

RIP Coolio.

This AI upscale isn't the best, but it replaced the original so I guess no going back. The music is still 10/10

IMO AI upscalers don't do much better than a sharpening filter. Can't wait until they figure out how to actually make one that reintroduces missing detail, rather than simply enhancing what is already visible.

[–] Zatore@lemm.ee 7 points 9 months ago

I'd say they are slightly better as they do a good job if you aren't paying attention. The reality is they need more training, but the law of diminishing returns kicked in long ago, so progress will be slow.

There's ongoing work to use AI Gen to introduce "new" details during upscaling. But I assume many will not be interested in something that doesn't recreate real details.

Why some "remastered" music videos look awful

Apparently they replaced the original video with an AI upscaled version. You can see some things aren't temporally stable. Some lines fade in and out as the camera moves.

And the chickens are walking forward during the reversed scene.

Aah, what a great timing. Just watched Weird: the Al Yankovic Story yesterday!

Now watch UHF, so much better imo

[–] Cavemanfreak@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

Already seen it a couple of times! Such a great movie 😁

My kids have had this on repeat lately. One randomly said, "A local boy kicked me in the butt last week" and I did a spit take.

Also, the last scene where he shot it in reverse, just peak dedication.
