Dammit. I am deeply hurt by this comic representation of me.

[–] SPRUNT@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

I'm represented by both characters and I don't like it.

People don't like to be reminded about how fucked we are. They would rather bury their head in the sand and pretend the only thing that matters is shitty Instagram reels.

When the vast majority of us have next to zero power to do anything about it, what good does constantly being reminded of it do?

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

At least don't have kids?

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Because I can't stop thinking about it and it's good to spread the pain so I like to remind you fuckers too.

Oh also... Don't forget your childhood pet that died.

End it with: at least we can still vote right?

Oh gawd, this is me. And then my parents just bounce back with "Guess Jesus is coming soon."

"Yes, because in times of fear people seek spiritual guidance and tend to disregard logic and facts."

I've got a handyman doing some repair work. It's a long term thing, so he comes in a couple days a week - he likes to talk and he's nice, so I usually step away from my work to chat with him

I swear, he's a kind and reasonable guy poisoned by Fox News sound bites. The problem of no autonomy until you're 18, and how people have been charged with child endangerment for letting their child walk to the playground? "Yeah, the border crisis is really messing things up"... No my man, it's a problem with car centric culture and a lack of community. We're more than a day of constant driving from the nearest border anyways.... That's not a real threat to children (or a real danger at all)

The wind has been crazy these last few days. . "even the weather is fake news these days"... What? It's just insanely unpredictable these days, gets worse every year. Remember how things didn't used to be like this?

Every conversation gets back into a sound byte, which prompts me to explain the real reason why everything is terrible

Also, you and I are dying right now.

[–] NounsAndWords@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

........I'm not supposed to be talking about that?

"Wow, it's so nice outside! 😍"
"I know, it's terrifying."

Literally me every time someone talks about how nice it is that it's in the 50's/60's.

Yeah it feels good but ITS FUCKING DECEMBER WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE REBECCA YOU STUPID CUNT THIS IS WHY THE ENTRIE DEPARTMENT HATES YOU

I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I've been sitting around quietly letting everyone blame industry and themselves for climate change, but the truth is that I wished for winter to end on a shooting star when I was little. I didn't realize the implications of such a wish and just hated the cold.

I, uh, also might have wished for bees to go away on my birthday candles. I realize now the bee was just checking my cake for nectar because it had bright colours, but at the time I thought it was attacking my birthday party.
