  • Brush: Zenith 31mm MOAR BOAR
  • Razor: Gillette Super Speed Flare Tip
  • Blade: Treet Platinum [8]
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Vert Noir - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Vert Noir - Aftershave

Good shave. Strange scent but it has grown on me.

This brush handle is very large and the shape makes it a bit difficult to maneuver. I do like the brush even though it doesn’t quite suit me.

This is my standard traveling setup right now. Been working quite good. I like the pleasant scent of the Maribor.

Not you too now with the [Redacted] nonsense!

The secret of this scuttle has been divulged in The Trial Of Merikus

Stirling February

  • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Zenith Boar Brush 31mm × 50mm
  • Razor: Mongoose Razors Alumigoose
  • Blade: Feather Professional
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. Varen
  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Fougère Gothique
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Fleur de France
  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

I finally got the new big Stirling × Zenith boar brush and I decided to break it in doing a Stirling February like I did when I got the Moar Boar a year ago. This is the first use and I haven't done anything to prepare the brush: no fridge shenanigans, no hair dryer, no hand lathers. The brush has even more backbone than the Moar Boar, but that might be just because it's brand new. In typical Zenith manner, the tips are already soft. I loaded extra heavy to compensate for the brush's juvenile lather-hogging and actually got enough lather for three passes. The brush is essentially pre-broken in 😊

  • Brush: Wolfman WRB2 Bronze w/AP Shave Co MiG 26mm Premium Hybrid
  • Razor: Wolfman Razors WR4/WRH3 (setting: 0.70 Plate)
  • Blade: Feather Artist Club Professional (6)
  • Lather: Elysian Soap Shop - Olympus - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Lavender - Toner
  • Aftershave: Elysian Soap Shop - Olympus - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Elysian Soap Shop - Olympus - Eau de Parfum

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

As soap bases go, the Elysian one is serviceable. Easy to lather and slick enough. Also, this base does not carry the Olympus scent particularly well (to my nose). The scent comes alive in the aftershave and the EdP, though, and is quite pleasant. It is a light scent with mild scent strength. Very comfortable if you need to be around people all day.

  • Brush: Summer Break Soaps w/Maggard 28mm Silvertip Badger
  • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
  • Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic (3)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving - Seaforth! Heather - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Petrichor - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm
  • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavenille - EdP

This knot is great. I don't know what a Silvertip is, but I like it. It's not gelled (I don't think) so there's some texture to the tips, but not enough to feel through the lather. The backbone is very good for most people I'd imagine. Not too soft, not too stiff. On a scale of 1-6 I'd give the backbone a 2.6 -- just shy of medium.

February 1, 2024: Thiersday

It's hard to find an alliteration with Thursday - but I do what I can. I was too tired for straight shaving, and I nicked my nose.

In unrelated news, this must be the second anniversary of my Semogue horse brush. I should probably do a proper write up.

Have a good night!

SOTD 01.02.2024

  • Prep: warm water + CeraVe anti-blemish cleanser
  • Razor: Stando Perun
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Le Grand Chypre
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Cucumber facial spray; Phytorelax Headshave ASB
  • Fragrance: Bentley for Men Intense EdP

First head shave of February. Oh, and a bit of WTG neck shaving to contour the "beard". I kinda have the feeling that I look like a budget Jason Statham with the new look... despite him being one of my favourite actors, I feel like it's not such a great look for me. 🤔

Just one pass, but good enough to clear the stubble. One weeper behind my right ear, otherwise a good comfortable shave.

Like a true wetshaver, I'm gonna list my fragrance again despite that I applied it in the morning and usually shave late evening/early night. Bentley for Men Intense is kinda growing on me. It's a clean, warm and sophisticated scent. Unfortunately the performance isn't really great, but I guess that's why it's so cheap. Sorta reminds me of whisky, more precisely the Scottish ones I tried when I was over there in 2019. Not too heavy though, suitable for everyday wear.
