I've seen this sentiment floating around, and I don't think it is correct. PR doesn't fix any internal processes, it's only role it to lie and mislead the public.

I kinda feel some people don't want to face the realities with what Linus (may) have become. They have a mental pedestal they've built, and confronting that it may not be accurate is scary.

Let Linus speak his heart freely. Then judge as you well.

The truth may not be pretty, but it is preferable to celebrating a facade.
