Hi all,

I've deactivated community mode for the sub, so everyone can now comment again without needing to be above the 50 community karma threshold.

We'll likely enable Community Mode on particular threads if the need arises, in order to maintain healthy discourse.

I've seen a few comments over the past few days making unfounded accusations against members of the LMG staff, you will be permanently banned if you do this. I can't stress how dangerous this is at this stage. Likewise for any incel-esque comments, attempting to diagnose certain people with mental disorders, and things of the like. This isn't healthy discourse.

All the best

i have actually followed Billet labs journey on that cooler as a subscriber of /r/sffpc, so was personally excited to see them featured on LTT

It was encouraging to see everyone shared the same disappointment that it wasnt tested properly

Despite the photos and information provided by Billet themselves, i still havent really gotten a chance to see it in a real build, high def 4k environment.

Linus is correct that its so outrageous and niche that nobody would ever really buy it, outside the most discerning whales

But it was the perfect level of outrageous and jank that matched LTT energy.

Anyway, i wonder if gamersnexus or Jays2c will cover it. Sadly (no offense to them) i find their videos very low in energy and boring/unengaging to watch. They ramble on unscripted too much But nonetheless still want to see such a product in action

Just remember LTT Fans. When they wheel Linus out to have a cry and tell fans he’s so sorry on behalf of the company— remember that it doesn’t change the actual substance of any of the issues the company has had for years.

This is still the same “boys club” it’s always been. Just as toxic as it’s always been. So don’t let a couple tears suddenly make you forget everything like always.

Where is your sympathy for employees of other companies?

The arguments for we need to think of the 100+ staff and their families, need to stop.

Linus has zero sympathy for the companies' employees when he throws them under the bus. Why should you when it comes to LTT?

I wish LTT went back to doing more videos about laptops, consumer reviews, and phone reviews. Just reviews in general. Mac laptops vs. windows laptops (Mrwhostheboss), monitor reviews (Hardware Unboxed), Phone exposes (Jon Rettinger/MKBHD). Hell, throw in some projector and TV stuff, give Techspot and Rtings a run for their money! They have the staff, they have the know how. I get it, they do unboxing and first impressions on Short circuit, but that usually means they actually review it and put it on the main channel. I feel like they went too far into the “gotta fix the $20,000 server every other video” vibe and forgot why I think a lot of us subscribed to this channnel for in the first place: Linus and Co. testing new products.

Like, when was the last time they did a proper phone review? Or a vide about the state of gaming laptops with the new generation of Ada GPUs vs. Ampere and Turing, etc.? Why aren’t there more reviews of windows laptops? I get the conflict on Linus’ side, but there are plenty of other staff members that can take an Alienware 16 or Razer Blade or one of the new MiniLED Asus laptops out for a spin.

Tech is not that boring right now, and just because GPUs aren’t as affordable/competitive as they used to be shouldn’t mean their videos are just Linus screwing around with Jake on a server worth more than most people’s cars.

Edit 1: getting a little long winded, but here is another thing.

There is an incredible amount of possibility for experimentation in format, style, content.

What about adventures featuring supposedly hardened tech; Apple Watch ultra vs. some Samsung wearable for hiking the Canadian Rockies? Does iPhone’s emergency calling accident awareness actually work? How easy is it to make a module for the Framework 16? What kind of camera setup is required for a proper car video (featuring Jake in his ridiculous M5 V10, god bless him)? What kind of hardware is inside of Linus’ Porsche Taycan (insanely expensive and technical, but I bet they could get it done)? How are people adding memory modules to their graphics cards (Linus can play with the solder gun on this one to the terror of Alex)? What kinds of third party coolers are there like the Morpheus and do they work?

What the fuck happened to mineral oil PCs? Perfect video idea to get Luke back in the presenter spotlight so that he can complain about LInus making him buy another fish tank XD.

That was literallly just off the top of my head, all projects that a team of 3 or 4 could do and with amazing results that leverage all of their unique resources, give the writing/editing teams some serious challenges, and are unique enough that LTT would be adding to the niche, not just cluttering it.

I just happened to want to see what Floatplane exclusives I hadn’t watched yet. Immediately this Bizneyland vid was not what I was hoping for, but then it got worse. The Geoff HR whiteboard joke is just sad to see with everything that has come to light.

HR staff sharing an open space with Bizneyland staff is awful. I really hope that they are being upgraded to their own dedicated office space with the necessary privacy they and the entire LMG staff deserve.

How can they be objective when reviewing fans, motherboards and graphic cards if they're receiving money from who they're reviewing? I always thought it was strange that they got money from Intel and AMD, for example, while reviewing their products, I'm glad someone called it out.

At first I was a little sceptical about this whole madison thing and her claims but I guess I have to believe now that all of it was real especially due to the leaked audio footage from 2021.

But I do have one question, how can people blame them for Madison cutting her leg open? Yes I know she wasn't given a sick leave BUT no one had stopped her from just leaving her job that time instead of just stabbing her leg. It was a lunatic move which you have to agree no one should do that.

Just a side note yes I think Madison was treated poorly I agree but still her move about cutting open her leg was definitely something I'm against and people should not blame that part on Linus or LMG members. That's all I really wanted to say.

When I read that tweet from her, I was shocked. And some people said it's proof that she's mentally unstable because no one will do that.

I started to believe that, but i remembered there's at least one profession where people pretend or purposely try to get injured during work time so that they get health insurance and extra time off.

It's Pro Wrestling. More specifically, WWE.

WWE superstars are on road for 300 days a year doing matches that obviously damage their bodies. They are incentivised to not take time off to heal because working through pain makes them a lot more money. But when they get injured, they try to grind it out through injury or hide it to make it seem that they were injured in ring. Otherwise they wouldn't get health insurance for the injury and would probably get mocked for taking time off.

Here's the proof.

Maven and Madison's stints with their respective workplaces are similar. Just like Madison, Maven was a fan. He won the reality tv show tough enough and got signed and trained by the WWE and worked there 4 four years before being released for not being good enough despite working through injury.

And in the video above, he explains what I said.

Remembering this detail, I now understand Madison's then mindset a lot better. She was probably under tremendous pressure, losing her brother recently, her dream job being a total nightmare, getting sexually harassed. No wonder she had mental health issues at that time.

It's not. They're doing it for your entertainment. This is very serious that some of you didn't even have the knowledge that an apology should be serious and sincere, especially in the corporate world.

WhAts WrOnG wItH A LiTtLe JoKes In ThE ApOlOgY ViDeO?! If ThEy DidNt Do ThAt ThE CoMmUnIty WiLl BrAnD tHem LiKe AnY CoRpOrAtIoNs!

and if you reply whats wrong with that statement and there's nothing wrong putting a sanitize PR statement they automatically revert to:

ItS ObViOuS ThAt YoUrE NoT a NaTiVe EnGlIsH SpEaKer So STFU!

That's how you defend your argument why the jokes needs to be in a statement that needs sincerity and seriousness? Really now?

I'm not a native english speaker but I know what needs in an apology statement.

To lighten the mood a little, perhaps it might be fun to list a few alternatives for people to watch or listen instead of WAN this week. Obviously nothing is going to ever replace WAN show, but lately I've also been enjoying:

  • WVFRM Podcast, (Waveform from MKBHD)
  • F1 Nation (for those into Formula 1)
  • Lateral with Tom Scott
  • Off track with Hinch and Rossi (indycar podcast, not on youtube but most other places)

I can also recommend a few Youtubers to watch:

What are you guys watching instead of WAN show?
