To me that looked like a well performed manoeuvre.

[–] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 17 points 10 months ago

I concur - it seems like the chances of recovering so gracefully (vs ending up in a ditch, or similar) are miniscule.

Plus the while setting is conveniently clear, like its been planned

Agreed. Something about their driving seemed very deliberate. Either that or they're an asshole that got luckey

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 6 points 10 months ago

Eh, the way they were filming this was obviously a setup

[–] Seudo@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

In Aus they do it on gravel with bunky utes. In UAE they do it on bitumen with new Mercs. Takes a bit of fine tuning but it's the same same.

Looks like a shit driver to me

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

someone having fun doing something I would never do

Clearly they lack skill and knowledge.

They clearly lack skill and knowledge based on the shitty uncontrolled spin that they barely pulled themselves out of. Did they have to better than 90% of drivers to know how to countersteer? Yes. Are they still dogshit compared to the top 1% also yes except they think they're invulnerable as it's usually poorly (if at all) trained teenagers and young adults that do incredibly stupid shit like this.

People forget to change from summer tyres to winter tyres when the frost arrives.

He got a draft letter and is on the run

[–] mrspaz@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

More like he got a drift letter... 😁

[–] MacNCheezus@lemmy.today 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah, he’s clearly done this before. You don’t simply spin out like this and not end up losing control and hitting a by sheer accident. Keeping the car going straight like this requires a fair amount of countersteering.

[–] DaleGribble88@programming.dev 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Granted there were no other cars on the road at the time, I did the same thing as a young adult. I took my 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT iceskating on a 3 lane highway with about 0.5-1.5 inch of snow and ice buildup

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

It’s actually 1/2”-1-1/2”.

[–] Atin@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

TBF that was some pretty impressive driving.
