Hey all! I'm new here -- been writing fairly seriously for about a decade and been wading slowly into the publishing world more recently. Would love to get to know any other writers hanging out around here -- what do you write and what are you working on?

I write a lot of fantasy/speculative, though I also do some short work in the space of memoir and CNF. Currently working on a novel about a girl whose voice is death.

Anyway, introduce yourselves! I'd love to see any stories you might be up for sharing!

I don’t consider myself a writer but I’ve been attempting to write recently to try and get an animated show that I’m working on off the ground.

Just wanted to pop in here to say that writing is hard and I respect the hell out of everyone who does it well. I’ve had to do a lot for this show and the writing is, by far, the hardest part.

It can be a lot harder than it looks! Even when you've been doing it for years -- and I think a lot of even authors agree that every project throws up new challenges. No book or story is ever easy. What's your animated show about?

It’s called Pajamazon and is about a group of warrior girls that help kids fight their nightmares.

I'm a reader who likes to write for myself occasionally. Never finished a big project but I've written a few short stories I'm proud of.

Currently writing a story about a chess player struggling to make money off of chess and unable to find a job that would allow him to play semi professionally on the side either.

Ps. Heres a line I wrote that i'm proud of; "Grief whispers in the wind, a haunting melody of what once was and what will never be again."

Ooh, that story sounds devestating -- in a good way. Great line as well. The struggle to balance passion and survival is really prevalent these days (thanks capitalism!). Best of luck with it.

Thank you!

Ps. What do you mean the characters voice is death? That sounds fascinating

I'm a recovering non-writer. Mostly short stories. My goal this year is to submit at least six short stories for ~~rejection~~ publication in actual paying magazines.

Yes! Get your work out there!

I’m a writer. I’m currently working on a post-modern dystopian fiction novel with transhumanism and fantasy elements. I’ve been working on it for several years now but it never seems to come out the way i want it to.

I love stuff that crosses genre lines -- so your stuff sounds right up my alley. It's funny how the words never quite seem to want to cooperate. Anything you've been struggling with in particular?

The characters. Humans are really complex and dynamic creatures; and it’s difficult to capture that in fiction. I always feel like my characters are 2-dimensional.
